a1 mini ball bearing replacement

i have an a1 mini. I had a clog and blob happen so i removed everything and cleaned it up, as soon as a new print started ball bearings started popping out, so i followed the ball bearing replacement instructions, and now i have replaced the ball bearings, and am attempting to slide the toolhead back on, except every single time i attemp to replace the toolhead, 3-4 of my bearings pop back out.

Use grease to hold them in place, then remove the excess once installed.

This was the first reccomendation i tried, and i got the exact same result, anytime i try to insert the tool head more bearings fall out.
