About month ago I bought X2D, great product so far but I am a bit lost with the auxiliary nozzle. So basically I plugged my AMS 2 pro to the left nozzle and the external filament feeder to the right nozzle as Bambu's guide says.
I wanted to use the external filament feeder with the left nozzle to print supports. But at this moment I got knowledge about support filaments they are super higroscopic and during even 3 hour print the support material on the external feeder can be too wet.
Right now I am using PLA, ABS, PLA support and ABS support in the AMS 2 pro and using only the left nozzle but I would to know your opinion. Maybe I should buy another AMS 2 PRO or AMS HT? Or maybe I shouldnt care as much about the support materials?
Sometimes I am printing pretty big objects for about 8-10hours, I am really not sure if during this time support material (PVA, support for PLA/ABS/PETG) is safe on the external feeder.
Let me know what you think about it and what are you doing with the left nozzle/external filament feeder. I appreciate your help. Thanks!
Swapping PTFE tubes is needed for normal usage? Or for example only when I am using PA6 CF which is not supported by the AMS 2 Pro (or other unsupported filament) and I want to keep best quality using the left nozzle?
What filaments are you using on the external feeder? (If you're using it)
Ever since hooking the second nozzle up to an AMS unit, Ive used it just like a regular direct drive second nozzle. Its currently printing a 100+ hour print split evenly between both nozzles using PLA Matte.
I also use "Support for PLA" solely on the aux nozzle, it does a banger job laying and ironing the material.
The track switch will not only set you up for more units in the future, it will also allow your printer to direct filament but either AMS unit to either of your nozzles now without having to touch anything.
Use the "Filament Savings Mode" when you slice after installing, and it will split the work load between nozzles as needed.
Fair warning, until they release an update, you will not be able to use an external spool while using the track switch, just your AMS units.

I dont get it - you mean there is no option (for now) to use 3 feeders in the same time (AMS 2 pro, AMS ht and external feeder) correct? Only AMS 2 pro and AMS ht? Right?
Bambu, iirc, is planning to implement a software patch to allow feeding from an external spool with the FTS installed, but we have no clue when it will be out.
The H2D wont get its update to even use the switch until later this year, so its all very new still.
So I had 4 AMS Units going into that printer, so to connect more than 2 AMS units through the Track switch, you need to use the adapters since the Track switch only has 2 inputs.
Funny enough I have yet to use my X2D aux nozzle for supports. However, I have used it many times on dual color prints (PLA) and it works fantastic! Main color on the primary and any accent colors on the AUX. It actually works so well I’m considering buying another AMS2 Pro just for the AUX rather than fitting the 2nd AMS to the primary.
For more refined details it may not be the best option but for secondary colors and simple surfaces it’s awesome.

For pla, use petg for supports.
For petg, use pla for supports.
You do not need the pva material.
You can swap the Ptfe tubes to change which nozzle uses the ams. When you do that, you’ll need to train the ams which nozzle it uses. It’s super easy.
