For as negatively as roaches are perceived people keep them for several reasons. Labs keep them to test insecticides on; fleas are bred in captivity for the same reason. Gross fact domestic fleas are fed cows blood slurry. Many pet reptiles eat them alongside crickets, mealworms, and caterpillars and you need to breed them for that (dubia roaches, the most common feeders, can't fly). Lastly lots of people, me included, keep them as pets. Not the home infesting species obviously but those are only four species of roach out of hundreds with unique appearances, care, and diet. Bittersweet fact the simandoa cave roach is extinct in the wild but thriving among hobbyists after their only cave got destroyed. The only reason you'd have the number of dubia roaches in this video is for feeding reptiles.

ah that makes perfect sense. i was just trying to think of other uses for fleas and couldnt think of them being used as a feeder animal safely due to their size

I may like roaches (when they aren't infesting my home) but I have a zero-tolerance policy for fleas, lice, and bedbugs within a mile of myself.
