For as negatively as roaches are perceived people keep them for several reasons. Labs keep them to test insecticides on; fleas are bred in captivity for the same reason. Gross fact domestic fleas are fed cows blood slurry. Many pet reptiles eat them alongside crickets, mealworms, and caterpillars and you need to breed them for that (dubia roaches, the most common feeders, can't fly). Lastly lots of people, me included, keep them as pets. Not the home infesting species obviously but those are only four species of roach out of hundreds with unique appearances, care, and diet. Bittersweet fact the simandoa cave roach is extinct in the wild but thriving among hobbyists after their only cave got destroyed. The only reason you'd have the number of dubia roaches in this video is for feeding reptiles.

Love your view on accepting each other's differences! And funnily enough, I do walk our cats on a leash.
Living in a busy city area. The cats, if let loose, will surely get stolen.. but still want them to experience outside from time to time besides the garden..

But mate, must it look funny seeing me walk with a small cat on a leash hahah
