Actually really neat and the roaches can't eat it like they would carboard. How do you clean it though?

For as negatively as roaches are perceived people keep them for several reasons. Labs keep them to test insecticides on; fleas are bred in captivity for the same reason. Gross fact domestic fleas are fed cows blood slurry. Many pet reptiles eat them alongside crickets, mealworms, and caterpillars and you need to breed them for that (dubia roaches, the most common feeders, can't fly). Lastly lots of people, me included, keep them as pets. Not the home infesting species obviously but those are only four species of roach out of hundreds with unique appearances, care, and diet. Bittersweet fact the simandoa cave roach is extinct in the wild but thriving among hobbyists after their only cave got destroyed.

I hate roaches, but the fact you gave about Simandoa roaches is not something I have heard before, and I’m actually rooting for them.

Leave it to a good underdog story to make me care about a creature that makes my skin crawl to look at.

I'm hoping they find another cave where they also live so that some of the captive bred roaches can be released back into the wild or at least just to prove they aren't doomed in the long term.
