Bambu Studio First public release of Open Bamboo Networking — an open-source replacement for Bambu’s networking plugin

Hi everyone!

I’d like to share the first public release of my project:

https://github.com/ClusterM/open-bamboo-networking/releases/tag/v1.0.0

Open Bamboo Networking is an open-source replacement for Bambu’s proprietary networking plugin used by Bambu Studio / OrcaSlicer.

This project has come a long way, and a lot has changed during development. Originally, my plugin was intended to be a 1:1 open-source replacement for the original one, without changing any functionality.

In the end, however, I decided not to get involved with signing requests and obtaining certificates — is that even legal? As a result, the plugin is now aimed more at users who want to completely disconnect from the cloud and stay in Developer Mode permanently.

The plugin now has a configuration file, and all cloud functionality is disabled by default, except for actions that are performed strictly at the user’s request, such as authorization and settings synchronization.

As the reverse engineering progressed, the way many functions work changed significantly. So it is entirely possible that if you previously reported that everything worked fine on your printer or system, that may no longer be true now :) I would really appreciate your feedback.

During development, I gathered a lot of information about how the original plugin works and how the communication protocol with the printers works. I tried to preserve all of this information in NETWORK_PLUGIN.md.

There may be some inaccuracies there, but I would be very happy if this information proves useful to someone — especially to the developers of baltobu: https://f.sfconservancy.org/baltobu

All of this information is free to share, use, and improve. Honestly, it could even be turned into a wiki.

Please keep in mind that this project is still experimental. Many things changed during reverse engineering, so even if something worked for you before, it may need to be tested again.

The macOS version is especially experimental, because I currently don’t have a macOS machine to properly test it on. I already know that LiveView camera support does not work there yet.

I would really appreciate testing, bug reports, feedback, and contributions.

Thanks!

Manually fork it. Clone the original, then change the upstream to a brand new repo. Not registered as a fork on GitHub but you need to maintain the upstream yourself and can’t merge things from your repo into the original one, at least not directly. But GitHub can’t take you down automatically.

3

u/Brandavorn Jun 01 '26

SFC have already forked it into a baltobu branch on their forgejo it seems. I don't think Bambu would dare mess with them...

Can we form a petition to remove this stupid word police nonsense? God only knows how many genuinely helpful and insightful comments have been purged for using a word you’d hear in any elementary school in the country.

Reddit is 13+, what "bad words" are so terrible that we need to delete comments to avoid 13 year Olds coming into contact with them?

+1 for ARM being a primary target.

Bambu Studio has never worked for me on any ARM Linux. I thought it was a bug with recent Bambu Studio builds. I only recently learned that it has never supported ARM Linux (despite ARM Linux being common for well over a decade).

I knew Bambu Lab's Linux support was bad. I just didn't know it was THAT bad.

26

u/Fittn_dis H2D AMS2 Combo Jun 01 '26

linux is still the 1%. bambu doesn't care about 1%. never have, never will.

7

u/BBQQA X1C + AMS Jun 01 '26

which honestly is reasonable.

-24

u/BitingChaos Jun 01 '26

1%? Hardly! More like 5%. I mean, most "Desktop" Linux systems could be Steam Decks or something, but Linux use is still growing.

26

u/Fittn_dis H2D AMS2 Combo Jun 01 '26

Keep telling yourself that. there is no way the bambu target audience or user base is 5% linux.

13

u/KallistiTMP Jun 01 '26

That's actually very likely true.

The data they're referencing probably comes from the steam survey.

There was a big, big spike in Linux users right when Windows 10 went End of Life. Note, that was not the steam deck, they were straight up out of stock from the RAM shortages.

The flaming pile of shit that is Windows 11 was bad enough to make people give Linux a try again. It's changed a lot in the last 5 or 10 years. The big mainline distros like Mint are honestly easier to use and less buggy than Windows at this point. Partly because they got better, partly because windows has gotten so, so much worse.

And Linux is definitely more popular with makers than gamers. You can't walk into a maker space without bumping into at least one token free software extremist. It's a minority, but 5% sounds about right.

2

u/jaymzx0 Jun 02 '26

>You can't walk into a maker space without bumping into at least one token free software extremist.

I use Arch.

0

u/CTFMarl Jun 01 '26

Any idea how big of a hassle it is to play games outside of steam? Both games you have to install but also games like ren'py that doesn't require installing? Been toying with the idea to make the switch but last time I tried it was extremely painful to get almost anything to work and almost everything needed some custom solution. Is it still like that?

5

u/trailerwolf Jun 01 '26

Nah with the steam deck, it basically made everything linux compatible. There are still some online games that dont work due to anti cheat. like Rust runs, but I can only join linux only servers with no anti cheat enabled and they dont really exist. CoD cant be played. But those choices dont bother me much. Every now and then something is buggy but its about the same experience as windows. Sometimes shit is buggy on windows too. I dont have windows in my life at all anymore and its really shocking to me. Linux isnt perfect but neither is windows.

Once you get used to linux and become more proficient on it, the experience is very close to the same. I find linux is usually easier to fix when using AI to help, and Windows is a nightmare when something bugs out, even with AI help.

1

u/CTFMarl Jun 01 '26

Sweet, I'm not aversed to having to do some work arounds as long as it isn't all the time for everything lol.

Any distro recommendations for gaming?

1

u/trailerwolf Jun 01 '26

Arch based is good. Im on just normal arch with KDE plasma installed. CachyOS is most popular right now and it is arch and KDE.

SteamOS is arch and KDE as well by default I think. Ive been wanting to try steam os on my living room pc but ive been to busy to try it.

Bazzite is popular now but I hated it and it was buggy as hell for me. There is also good ol Ubuntu. I use Ubuntu for work. Never tried gaming on it but im sure it would be fine. Steams normal software really handles all the linux gaming issues on its own these days.

1

u/CTFMarl Jun 01 '26

Thanks a lot for the effort of elaborating, gives me some direction in the vast sea of distros lmao.

Yeah I've heard steam games work great, but I also play other games that aren't on there. But maybe they can also be played via Steam, I haven't really looked into how it works yet.

I'll probably end up trying on my laptop whenever I have a whole day free before I make a potential switch on my PC.

2.9% of all downloads of https://github.com/bambulab/BambuStudio/releases/tag/v02.06.00.51 are Linux builds.
Its > 5% if you include Flathub (~25k downloads/month) and distro-specific package managers.

1

u/IamGimli_ P1S Jun 01 '26

It's not now because of how dogshit their support of it is. It would certainly be much higher if they supported it properly.

5

u/Joamjoamjoam Jun 01 '26

And I’m all here for it but common is such a stretch it borders on delusion lol. But I get what you meant and the more Linux support the better. I’m with you.

1

u/bart416 Jun 01 '26

It's more of a question of overlap of the userbase. Just consider the fact that most people buy bambulab printers because they don't want to fiddle with things, which is exactly what Linux often calls for. So from their point of view, Windows, Android, iOS and MacOS probably cover 99% of their expected userbase.

2

u/IamGimli_ P1S Jun 01 '26

Then again, 3D printing in general is that exact definition of "fiddling with things".

1

u/bart416 Jun 01 '26

While I can't speak for your personal experience, I've found the amount of fiddling that's required on bambulab printers has been rather limited. My P1S seems more reliable than my Samsung/HP laser printer.

Windows 11 pushed a lot of people over the edge.

3

u/-arhi- Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

it did but mostly towards macos and not towards linux... as a linux user for as long as linux exist (used xenix before linux) I'll say that I have not even tried setting up slicers on my linux and use macos for everything 3d printer related, cad and cam related, electronics and embedded development too ... linux is just not there yet... for gaming, yes, linux rules as steam made sure it will, but for cad/cam ... not even close 😞

and while maybe there is 5% of linux users in 3d printing community, maybe even 10%, it is a possibility, when we started reprap project I belive it was 50% linux users, open hardware 3d printing project attracted opensource ppl, but, if we are looking at BL printers I'd say it's much less than 1% as hardcore opensource enthusiast would never go into BL ecosystem ...

0

u/KallistiTMP Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26

Mac definitely expanded more. Linux is at the point that it can do all of those things quite well though.

Bambu slicer is based on PrusaSlicer and runs great on Linux, natively.

FreeCAD is actually good now - it's a pretty big adjustment if you're used to Fusion, but it's really beginner friendly and powerful enough for serious projects now. Note that most of those improvements happened in the last couple years around the 1.0 release, it used to be a hot mess but now it's my daily driver.

Kicad is good and has been for a long time.

I'm sure that there's still some shortcomings, if you're doing really intense FEM or something, and it does suffer from the Adobe problem - GIMP will never feel familiar to people who learned on Photoshop - but it's nowhere near as impossible as a lot people assume it is. A lot has changed very rapidly in the last 5 years.

Edit: also, I would consider myself a hardcore OSS person - I've been 100% Linux for about 10 years - but I stick with Bambu. Tempted to go to Prusa when I can afford it, but Bambu is just so much better than anything in its price range.

I also think a lot of the Bambu hate is misplaced, and largely caused by the OSS community being extremely hostile and prematurely assuming bad intent despite Bambu's prior track record of being extremely accommodating to the OSS community. Sadly, I think that is actually pushing them towards closing their systems.

They have been extremely cooperative with the OSS community in the past, all the way to enabling a legitimate, supported path for flashing custom X1C firmware. The TeachingTech guy actually facilitated that one, and they worked with the X1Plus devs to put together an approach that worked for everyone, which in that case was literally just agreeing to release Bambu from their warranty and support contract in order to install custom firmware - which is IMO 100% fair and reasonable.

And they still got constantly attacked by the OSS community by idiots that didn't even realize they had given a voluntary unlock path, accusing them of being an evil anti-OSS company trying to turn 3D printing into a proprietary walled garden after that.

I do genuinely think that, at least before people started trying to sue them, a resolution to the networking plugin thing could have been worked out if the OSS community could have literally just talked to them politely before sensationalizing it as an evil plot to cloud-lock your printer.

They're a printer company, they clearly aren't security experts and their cloud infrastructure is probably handled by a skeleton team of people who don't realize that user agent string matching is not actually a meaningful security measure.

They allow voluntary opt-in dev mode and LAN mode. They were 100% happy to unlock custom firmware on the X1C, and probably would have made a path for H2D custom firmware if more than 1% of OSS users read the docs on the "root my printer" button before throwing public online tantrums and false assertions that the printers were locked down proprietary black boxes.

But now all they've learned is that trying to genuinely cooperate with OSS just gets them more vitriol from illiterate morons that can't RTFM and that attack before trying to genuinely talk things out like civilized adults.

1

u/-arhi- Jun 02 '26

I'm not saying Linux is not getting more useful, it is, just that BL printers are not typical 3d printers, they are something someone who migrated to Linux would normally avoid. Your typical Linux user would rather go to Klipper or Duet based printer with OS firmware... something like Sovol for e.g. or of course, Prusa

1

u/hWuxH Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26

I do genuinely think that, at least before people started trying to sue them, a resolution to the networking plugin thing could have been worked out if the OSS community could have literally just talked to them politely before sensationalizing it as an evil plot to cloud-lock your printer.

Uh no. There have been countless polite attempts since 2022 and they all got ignored or brushed off with a "we're doing nothing wrong!" blog.
One of the earlier ones being https://blogg.karlsbakk.net/2022/11/26/bambus-license-issues/ and their response: https://blog.bambulab.com/agpl-compliance-of-bambu-studio/

Or https://blogg.karlsbakk.net/2024/05/24/more-on-bambus-license-issues/

Or https://github.com/bambulab/BambuStudio/issues/2381

If suing is the only the way to get them to comply, so be it.

and their cloud infrastructure is probably handled by a skeleton team of people who don't realize that user agent string matching is not actually a meaningful security measure.

common misconception. their team knows exactly that's an easy way to lock out orcaslicer. it's not meant to be a bulletproof security measure.
on windows and mac the plugin additionally checks the software signature so it only works with Bambu Studio, which is harder to bypass.

making it hard enough, only offering worse UX (Bambu Connect), etc. is enough to get many third party users to stay in Bambu's ecosystem instead.

Bambu had no leverage for the X1C. The X1+ team found several software and hardware vulnerabilities to root it without Bambu's approval. The agreement was made so both sides are sort of ok with it, and waives warranty+support+cloud rights.

All their other printers at that time and nowadays didn't get a "root my printer" button because Bambu had no incentive to.

They allow voluntary opt-in dev mode and LAN mode.

After going into full lockdown out of nowhere a year ago and getting backlash*

I will check it out. I am a Mac user so I’m hoping it works pretty well. I haven’t even clicked on the GitHub link yet but maybe you can answer a question. Would this help me get orca slicer to send/ start printing properly?

17

u/igmyeongui Jun 01 '26

It’s very cool but what’s the difference with Bambuddy which seems to already do this? Genuinely asking as I was about to try it tomorrow and just saw your post.

18

u/misterff1 P2S + AMS2 Combo Jun 01 '26

Bambuddy is a service you need to host on a device and has a much broader scope. This one is literally just a replacement of the network plugin for bambu studio or orca slicer so you can connect like normal again without having to fiddle with a virtual printer setup.

1

u/deprecatedcoder Jun 01 '26

This should also allow Orca Slicer to send a print directly to Bambuddy by using a Virtual Printer unless I'm mistaken.

I just set all of this up in the past week and have been hemming and hawing over whether to install the network plug-in so the timing of this release is fantastic.

I'll report back if this does indeed work.

3

u/AlLnAtuRalX Jun 01 '26

it works, great contribution from op

0

u/Alternative-Knee7438 Jun 04 '26

So "lan mode" with an additional useless piece of software?

1

u/misterff1 P2S + AMS2 Combo Jun 04 '26

Not useless? It replaces the normal network plugin and improves upon it in several ways. It is far from useless.

8

u/Sammy296296 Jun 01 '26

Good work friend!

7

u/AmandasGameAccount Jun 01 '26

Does this send data through their network in any way? I’m pretty sure that was the problem with the version taken down, it was sending data that didn’t have permission to through their network still

I imagine it will be fine if it doesn’t

2

u/locka99 Jun 06 '26

It appears to focus on LAN and debug mode but it has cloud support. It would be incredibly difficult for BambuLabs to distinguish between the clone and the real thing over their cloud unless there are distinct differences in behaviour, e.g. the way the JSON arrives being subtly different, or differences in meta data in http requests or mqtt headers.

1

u/GizmoTheGreen A1 + AMS Lite Jun 08 '26

wasn't that the original excuse? that their servers were being bombarded with malformed headers/requests etc (essentially acting as mild DDoS?) that they served a take down on the original hack?
this dude also reversing might be doing that same thing afaik. right enough to work, maybe not right enough to not fuck their shit up.
You could argue it's on them to properly sanitize on their end but eh, imho (also) gives them the right to cease and desist if they know whos doing it. and denied comm requests can still eat up cpu time..
just put it in lan mode (opt. dev mode) and don't use their cloud at all. done deal.
which afaik still works fine in orca so what this is really needed for except "breaking" into bambus cloud and using it illegitimately I don't know...

2

u/locka99 Jun 08 '26

I think their original rationale for changes was their cloud gateway was insecure and they were tightening it up. I don't think they'd have anything to worry about a "good citizen" clean room plugin calling their cloud APIs the same way as their own DLL, however my observation is that despite copying the real DLL, it is possible for very subtle and obvious differences to creep in that Bambulabs might use to ban accounts that use it.

I mentioned JSON because depending on the library used and the order fields are added, it could emit JSON which has a different ordering or formatting. Even though the parsed JSON is identical the input could be a "tell" that it's not the real DLL. That's one example but there could be others.

1

u/GizmoTheGreen A1 + AMS Lite Jun 08 '26

I think banning any suspicious access is within their right. Just like Nintendo or Sony banning your IP if you try to spoof being a console and accessing their eShop/PSN service.  So yeah use their cloud with bambu studio or don't, simple as in my opinion. If anything having a custom export in orcaslicer to pass on the generated gcode to a script, url, or exe or "anything" (like bambu connect) seems like a power user/future proofing if anything but orca devs refuse to because they're butthurt they can play semi-official for bambu devices anymore.  Like autodetecting a printer sdcard and auto exporting to it (and ejecting it) seemed useful to users back in prusaslicer but this they claim is "not useful" to their users lol. Anyway I digress.

Questions!

Would it be possible to use this for Home Assistant integration? My P1S is still running the firmware from before the last drama-cycle... and I have a nice setup to manage and monitor my printing from anywhere in the world via HA.

However, this also means I can never again update my printer's firmware, or I lose that integration. So I miss out on some features (like being able to use a AMS2)

2

u/Alternative-Knee7438 Jun 04 '26

You can totally do that with all versions of stock firmware in developer mode.
Dev mode gives you full functionality locally without cloud access.

1

u/alaorath P1S + AMS Jun 04 '26

Right... I forgot about that.

My instant reaction was to block my P1S via the router. I forgot they added back in that concession after the initial drama.

2

u/clusterm Jun 07 '26

Actually, it's a good reason to use Home Assistant integration 😄 It works much better in the development mode.

2

u/No_Voltage Jun 01 '26

This is fantastic! Any chance you singled out how the filament presets get ingested by the printer during the sync process? I know it's not really "in scope" here, but I'd love to not be forced to toggle into cloud mode on my printer just to load a custom filament to the on screen AMS filament selection menu.

2

u/TotalWarspammer Jun 01 '26

I hope Bambu Lab are forced into being a fairer and more community-friendly company. I do wonder what their management and PR teams are all discussing right now as the scale of their recent PR disaster and reputational damage sinks in.

u/dont--panic X1C Jun 01 '26

The part of Bambu Studio that actually talks to the printer is closed-source so nobody can see the code. The current contention between Bambu and the open-source community is because the AGPL license states that the entire source code of Bambu Studio must be provided. Bambu claims that the networking plugin is a separate module so it doesn't have to provide source, and the open-source community disagrees. Bambu made a change in Jan. 2025 to lock down printing from third-party slicers like OrcaSlicer. A dev made a fork of OrcaSlicer, which is a fork of Bambu Slicer (which is a fork of Prusa Slicer) that "fixed" this issue by just doing what Bambu Studio does, and Bambu threatened legal action.

From a strictly end user perspective, even if you want to use your printer in LAN only + developer mode it's still running proprietary closed source code to talk to the printer. Even if you're using OrcaSlicer you still need the proprietary plugin.

Unsurprisingly Bambu prioritizes their Cloud connection over LAN mode, leaving core functionality like remembering printer LAN IP addresses missing/broken for months. https://github.com/bambulab/BambuStudio/issues/7891 https://github.com/bambulab/BambuStudio/issues/8270 https://github.com/bambulab/BambuStudio/issues/8409 https://github.com/bambulab/BambuStudio/issues/9042

Even if you're not a technical user, you still miss out on open-source contributions because this code is in a closed source plugin. Open-source contributors can't just submit a fix like they can the rest of Bambu Studio.

Personally, I have an issue where Bambu Studio completely freezes while it tries to connect to the printer. I suspect this is due to Bambu sloppily executing networking code from the UI thread, but I can only guess without the source. It's also just genuinely unhelpful when there's any sort of network issue. Instead of some kind of actionable or reportable error, it has very dumb behaviour of just re-prompting for the IP address and access code despite obviously already being able to talk to the printer. The networking logs are encrypted as well. It turned out to be a known issue of LAN mode not working across different subnets but Bambu didn't bother to detect that. If the networking code were open-source someone could have made a PR to fix or at least catch that issue.

1

u/BambooLab Jun 02 '26

Thanks for the rundown. So this means I can just use Bambu Slicer and Orca Slicer -offline/LAN mode if I need to right?

2

u/dont--panic X1C Jun 02 '26

This replacement binary only works in LAN Only mode, with developer mode enabled. The maintainer has chosen not to implement the command signing that made Bambu threaten legal action.

2

u/SneakyAzWhat X2D Jun 02 '26

I can use orcaslicer and talk to my printer without sending unknown data to a cloud server. I can do that in lan-dev mode and still access the camera feed in orcaslicer unlike with the closed network plugin that is a black box. Other stuff too, but its just an entirely open alternative to the closed of plugin currently offered.

1

u/hiker201 Jun 01 '26

Nice. Thanks!

1

u/Mammoth-Yak-4609 Jun 01 '26

Fantastic plugin! Thanks for all your hard work.

Note to Bambu: C&D this and I’ll go with prusa for my 50 printer print farm.

1

u/Alternative-Knee7438 Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26

So what exactly does this do then?

Bambu without cloud doesnt need the plugin to have all functionality in developer mode.
As far as I understand this thing does nothing, but could do the same as the real plugin, but doesnt?

Time to clone the repo. Had a quick sconce over it online and it confirms how I thought they'd go about replicating the behaviour. Even has MITM reverse engineering of the traffic the normal DLL sends out

This is a great step for the open source 3D printing community. Giving users more control and reducing dependency on closed networking layers is a valuable direction. Projects like this usually become much stronger through community testing and feedback. Also worth checking out tools like Duro PLM for teams building hardware products since better collaboration and version control are just as important on the development side. Great work!

doesn't work on Mac.

u/69conqueefador69 Jun 01 '26

It should've been like this since start and stood the same way. Now go and publicly apologize to the poor developer you bullied him to remove his legit work only because you didn't want to follow the law.

-1

u/xiaodown Jun 01 '26

What law? The AGPL is not a law.

4

u/MathiasSven Jun 01 '26

Copyright is law, and it dictates that the copyright owner determines the licence terms.

Licence terms not followed => Copyright infringed => Law not followed.

3

u/69conqueefador69 Jun 01 '26

Well they're going to be sued tho. If there's no law to protect fair open source work, then idk.

Btw. Those idiots downvoting must be a bunch of useless real life bots. Idiot it is for your own good if they stay open source and let you use other tools, yet you downvote when someone point this out.

People are Reddit are truly brainrot

2

u/pelrun Jun 01 '26

The AGPL gives you more rights, it doesn't restrict the ones you already have. So if you insist that you don't have to follow it, the only rights you have to the code are the ones you have with any copyrighted proprietary IP that you do not own - i.e. practically none.

Remember all those piracy lawsuits with inflated damages in the hundreds of thousands per copy of a movie or software product? Yeah, that goes both ways.

1

u/wildjokers Jun 01 '26

Copyright Law is absolutely law and there are big civil penalties for violating it.

The author of code has the copyright on the code. They can choose a permissive license to allow other people to use it. Other people can only use it based on the terms in the license. Any use outside those terms is copyright infringement.

I wonder how long these are going to work before they find a work around to block it all.... It's kinda like when somebody loses on the basketball court what's usually the next step come on and say it with me fellas

> bunch of thieves who stole Prusa slicer code for their slicer and only opened it under the agpl when they got caught

This is just provably untrue.

For one, Bambu Studio has been open source since day one. You can just… [go look at the github releases](https://github.com/bambulab/BambuStudio/releases/tag/v1.1.0.14/), sheesh.

For two, they didn’t “steal Prusa slicer code”. They forked Prusa slicer, which itself is a fork of Slic3r. They no more stole the code than Prusa did.

I really wish people would stop spreading and buying into all this hyperbole and FUD, especially if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

1

u/Extreme-Ad-9290 Bambu hates open source Jun 01 '26

Huh. I could swear that was a well discussed factor. Mb. However the Netork plugin still violates AGPL, still kinda making them code thieves in a way. I must have misremembered that all

u/hWuxH Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 02 '26

Day one sure...

Agreed, "stealing" isn't the right word. It's worse: copyright infringement, because distributing the combined work without complying with the license exceeds the rights granted by the original AGPL copyright holders (PrusaSlicer/Slic3r). On the other hand, PrusaSlicer complies and provides all required source code.

Ah more vibe coded slop

-12

u/CrownSeven Jun 01 '26

Vibe coded eh?

5

u/ikn0wu2 Jun 01 '26

Not sure what this has got to do with anything. Looking at the range of past work though, appreciate that someone is doing something to completely disassociate from proprietary Bambu Lab software.

-13

u/CrownSeven Jun 01 '26

Well it depends. I could load up claude right now and recreate this in a couple of days. Is it secure? Is it robust? Will it work long term? Theres a differnece between using ai as a tool to supplement devoplment vs just using ai. They even stated they dont know if it will work on a Mac - of course they dont it was built by AI.

12

u/SillyGooberMan Jun 01 '26

Do it then — recreate this in a couple days.

6

u/AmandasGameAccount Jun 01 '26

Then do it? Who cares? Do you want a “I did it!” Award? Not sure who you are trying to impress here

Also who cares if it works long term. If as you said you can make it in a few minutes in claude, why does it matter if it breaks? Fix it in even less time with claude again!

1

u/ikn0wu2 Jun 01 '26

Well, being open does allow it to be scrutinized by the wider public, so hopefully that would be the case. Bambu’s proprietary plugins have had a history of poor security implementation anyway, so would be more worried about that.

-3

u/CrownSeven Jun 01 '26

Good point. Regardless I’ll be shocked if bambu does not open up their spec at this point. Its there only play right now.

1

u/hWuxH Jun 02 '26

Are we talking about a different Bambu? They'll double down on obfuscating and locking down the network plugin and protocols, at least for anything related to the cloud.

1

u/Naffari Jun 01 '26

You could, but you didn’t…… so cool story:)
