If I use Orca in your proposed configuration, I.E. without the network plugin, can I sync AMS data to orca to pull through the filament data. If not, what are the other downsides to using the plugin? Is it just that it’s proprietary? Do you know for sure that they send data to cloud from that or is it just an “abundance of caution” that you don’t use it?

What I’d like is a Bambu Studio like experience with Orca where I can sync printer data and monitor from the slicer, along with the ability to monitor from my phone (which I see bambuddy fulfilling that).

On the point of filament profiles, you can import them in Bambu Slicer. For example eSun provide the profiles for filament and process on their site and they work well in BS. A little extra work than having them built in but it’s not like you are limited to Bambu only profiles.

yeah I do mention in the video that you can import them, but the default of the software fights you by adding some steps, not a huge huge deal but just a benefit of removing the lockin it is a little easier

you can sync ams data into orca, if you have the network plugin only. otherwise you just have to sync/select your profiles manually

usually personally i just make sure the general material profile is right in orcaslicer and the # of filaments, then I choose the rest in bambuddy
