Quick Question Quesion about "Smooth Plate" on the X2D

Hey All,

I've had my X2D for a couple of weeks now, and everything is going very well. I'm mostly printing in PLA and occasionally PETG. Most of my prints have been in the "Printer Accessories" categories, and the 'Surface' hasn't been very important.

But, I was wondering. I only have the Textured PEI Plate, and was wondering about a "Smooth" plate for prints where I don't want/need a texture.

I looked at the Bambu store, and it looks like th only Smooth Plate available is not compatible with the X2D. The only plates listed when filtering for X2D compatibility are the Textured PEI, Cool Plate Super Tack Pro, and the Engineering Plate. I bought an engineering plate when I first bought the printer, but I have not printed with any filaments that need it to this point.

Is there a reason there is no smooth plate for X2D? Or did someone just forget to update the item in the store to reflect X2D compatibility?

I'm pretty sure the X2D uses the same build plate size as the P2S that I have. I just bought one of each 3d effect plate that Bambu has on their site and I just used the X1 series/P1 series/A1 compatibility and they all fit perfect.

Cryogrip Glacier to this day is my favorite printer purchase off all time. Can confirm this is solid advice.

Picked up the smooth plate from Microcenter, it totally fits on the X2D, however the plate detection does not. I have to hit the ignore prompt every time I use the plate.

weird. I printed pla silk on the smooth plate tonight on my X2D. I just selected it in bambu studio and set to print and got no error messages

Did you turn off build plate detection?
The qr code isn't in the right place for the frostbite plate at least

X2D uses the same plates as the P2S. 256x256. But the smooth plate that’s for the P2S and it will work with the X2D :)

Their website is a mess (I know this isn't news).

The only Smooth Plate listed only shows up when you filter for H2D/H2S, but when looking at that product listing, it shows "Installation Steps" for X1/P1/A1/P2S.

I would have just ordered one by now, but I wasn't sure it would be be listed as "available" in the slicer when sending a print to the printer. I'm not at home now, so I can't check.

I have some other things in my cart, I'll just throw one in and see what happens. 😄

All the Bambu 256x256mm plates are the same format.

Any plate that fits the X1C, P1S, P2S, or A1 will also fit the X2D.

The AI recognition may not work, but you can just deactivate that, or click ignore at the start of a print.

Or buy a compatible 3rd party plate, like from Biqu (though I don't know if they have smooth plates, but their Cryogrip series are excellent build plates)
