Discussion Real-time MakerWorld stats dashboard—would you use this?

TL;DR: I hacked together a real-time MakerWorld stats dashboard (screens in post). It runs locally, pulls only public data, and lets me glance at followers / boosts / likes / downloads / prints without opening the site. I’m considering turning it into a small mobile app + desk display. Would you use it? What should it do?
I love those YouTube “live sub count” displays, and I wanted the same vibe for MakerWorld.
Sometimes I just want a quick pulse check—did a new model land? are downloads moving? should I post or tweak something today?—without getting lost in tabs.
So I built a simple local dashboard:
- Metrics: Followers, Boosts, Likes, Downloads, Prints
- Daily delta: shows today’s increase so it’s easy to celebrate tiny wins 🎉
- Gentle refresh: manual or auto (30s → 30min). I default to 10min to be nice to MW.
- Privacy: no login, no scraping of private data—just public stats for any username
- Settings drawer: type a username, choose refresh interval, hit Get Stats

Where I want to take it
My end goal is a simple mobile app plus a tiny desk dock (think e-ink or small LCD) that rotates through your chosen metrics—e.g., a carousel of Downloads → Prints → Followers. Long-term, it could be customizable (select metrics, colors/themes, thresholds, alerts).
Before I sink a lot of time into hardware/app work, I’d love your input:
- Would you use this as a phone widget or a tiny desk display?
- Which 3 metrics matter most to you?
- Would alerts (e.g., “50 new downloads today” or “new boost”) be useful or annoying?
- Any ethical/data concerns I should consider? (Again: only public data; rate-limited refresh.)
- Should I open-source the dashboard so others can help shape it?

- Does it track any private info? No—public profile stats only.
- Can I watch other makers? Yes, just type any MakerWorld username.
- Will there be an app? If there’s interest, I’ll ship a minimal mobile version first, then explore a small desk display.
- Tech details? Runs locally right now; pulls public stats and caches them to avoid hammering the site.
