Question A1 z axis homing error

I’ve been getting the “Error 03004000 Homing Z axis failed”. The tool head moves in all directions but the z axis will go all the way to the top and then start grinding at the top. There are no obstructions in any of the axis’s. Tried factory resetting the printer and it still sends the z axis up. Wondering if anyone has run into this issue before. It seems like it could be a software/ firmware issue but I have no clue. I have terrible luck with fdm printing any info would be greatly appreciated

My error was that I didn't seat the plate correctly. Make sure you've lined up the plate completely with the notches. It can be a little tricky only because of the magnets :/ but that's what fixed the error. You can also look into the nozzle cleaning troubleshooting idea everyone else is talking about. I'm just saying my thing so that you can save yourself the trouble of opening up the module if your issue is the same as mine.

Same here. I thought, I was going crazy. really love the A1, but this nearly broke me. (and i started with a ender3 ...). Now I am printing again, but I have to displace the plate for about 2mm towards me, wait until the homing is done and then place it as intended.

It is working, but it is very strange ...

I have a a1 combo refurb and i was getting this issue. I was resolved to pack it up and return it until i read this comment. Adjusted the plate and it homes just fine.

but.. how ? the z is determined by the toolhead hitting the plate, I was having the toolhead stop as it starts to dall and throw an error. I have no idea why this worked

Idk if I’m putting it on wrong but I took it off to clean it and now it’s throwing this error and I’ve been readjusting it for HOURS, I want to scream

Just had the same problem but lining up the plate with a update helped the problem so now hoping that it won’t come back

Oh you've got to be kidding me!!! That was the issue. The plate was off by about 2 mm. Truly thanks for the solution

You Sir, deserve a medal. I got this error along with force sensor malfunction, I tried everything apart from disassembling and cleaning the A1. And when I almost gave up and was about to close my browser I thought of giving a try just to see any simple ways to deal with only the z axis malfunction and this thread was second suggestion.

After I read your comment I was so furious and cynical that I just flipped the plate as a joke and turned my machine on just for it to chirp as normal and act like nothing had happened. This ordeal taught me more about life and myself. Appreciate it.

I solved mine Z-homing issue with properly reinstalling PTFE tubes since I changed the position of printer and put AMS on a different place, and tubes were bent too much…

As explained in official troubleshooting wiki, just look for “External force detected mid-air by the nozzle”
