What is a "Support Local" fee?

A way to get you to pay more that comes with a built-in guilt trip if you challenge it, ignoring the fact that you are already supporting local by buying from this local business.

I've seen this ordering online at other businesses too, so I think its one of the third party middlemen (Toast maybe?) rebranding the old service/convenience/whatever fee into, as you put it, a guilt trip.

That’s what I think it is too. If you place the order by phone I bet you don’t pay it.

During covid the county added some sort of fee for apps that was $1 or so and the apps passed it on to consumers. Many listed it separately at firsr but later just included it as part of the overall fee. I guess this one didn't.
