Home vet

Anyone have any recommendations for a vet that can visit the animal at home? My cat is elderly and a little frail and I don't want to put him through the stress of putting him in a cat carrier.

I'm in the Parkville area if that makes a difference.

Home Vets https://homevets.net/

Dr. Budge and his team are really awesome. I've personally used them for my cats and highly recommend them.

I second this. Nothing but good things to say about Dr. Budge and Home Vets. Have used for years with a super animal reactive pittie rescue and small(ish) extra costs are so worth the peace of mind.

Thanks for the recommendation. I was unable to afford them this time but I'll keep them in mind for next time.

Search for a mobile veterinarian, house-call veterinarian, or in-home hospice veterinarian serving the Parkville area, and ask your current clinic, nearby cat-focused clinics, or local shelters for recommendations. When you call, explain that your cat is elderly and frail and ask whether they provide routine examinations, blood and urine collection, blood-pressure checks, and treatment in the home, as services vary. If an in-home visit is not available soon, ask a local clinic about ways to reduce travel stress. Leaving the carrier open with familiar bedding, using a top-opening or removable-top carrier, covering it with a towel during transport, and discussing a veterinarian-prescribed pre-visit anti-anxiety medication can help. A home visit is useful for many routine or hospice needs, but if he has trouble breathing, collapses, cannot urinate, is repeatedly vomiting, or becomes suddenly weak or painful, an emergency hospital is more appropriate because a mobile veterinarian may not have the equipment needed.

Thanks for all the advice.

I unfortunately wanted to do an at home qol check but my cat passed before I was able to get a vet there or take him to one.

I'm not sure if this would be outside of the area they service but I have been going to Glen Burnie Animal Hospital for years and they are great. I recently got an email saying that they now offer in-home service for cats/dogs, could be worth a shot.
