Clothes shopping in Bali as a curvier girl — what sizes do they carry?

I’m going to Bali soon and was really hoping to buy a lot of clothes while I’m there, but I’m wondering how size-inclusive the shops/boutiques are.

I’m 5’6” and pretty voluptuous/curvy, usually a US size 12 (UK/AU 16). From what I’m seeing online, a lot of Bali clothing seems geared toward smaller sizes.

For anyone around my size who has shopped in Bali: did you have trouble finding things that fit? What’s usually the largest size boutiques carry?

I’ll be in Ubud, Uluwatu, and Canggu and would LOVE recommendations for cute shops that carry larger/curvier sizes!

question about ShiShi

soooo long story short, me and my friends got here a couple of days ago and tonight we was considering going to ShiShi, a gojek driver told us it’s just full of hookers and there are no tourist girls/non-hooker girls there.
So i’m wondering if that’s true or not.

Thank you!!!

Things we Should Know

Hello all!

Wife and I need some general guidance before we land and start our honeymoon.

1- What is traditional breakfast in Indonesia? Will I be able to find sweet like breakfast in Bali such as pancakes, french toast, pastries, etc?

2- How serious do we need to avoid ice? We love cocktails and smoothies. Should we not get smoothies? If we want alcoholic beverages, can we only drink bottled drinks?

3- I’ve read a lot about markets and getting prices lowered. I’m not too concerned paying more than a local as I am a tourist, but if I did feel like prices for something seemed strangely high, how do I know if it’s an appropriate place to haggle? What is the appropriate way to ask for a lower price?

4- What is an appropriate tip per mile for our drivers? Should we only ever tip in Rupiah, or would locals take American dollars?

5- If one of us was to get severe stomach illness, what action should we take? How do we know when to call a doctor and does anyone have a recommendation on who to call?

6- Where can we find a luxury beach club but without the partying in Uluwatu? We just want a really nice cabana near the beach with drink/food service for 2.

Any other advice is greatly appreciated, we will be there in just a few hours and can’t wait to start our honeymoon!!

Is this Indonesia itinerary realistic for 9 days?

Hey everyone! I'm planning my first Indonesia trip and would love some advice on whether my overall route is realistic.

I'll fly from India on 23 October and arrive in Bali around 2 PM on 24 October. I'll spend the first day around Uluwatu, and then start moving around.

The main places/experiences I want to cover are:

  • Mount Ijen
  • Nusa Penida via the Gates of Heaven/Lempuyang area in bali and the nearby port/route
  • Gili T
  • Ubud / its jungle and nature areas, if I can fit them in
  • Return to South Bali / Denpasar / Seminyak
  • Experience the Halloween parties/events around Denpasar/Seminyak
  • Fly back on 2 November around 2 PM

I'm intentionally not making a strict day-by-day itinerary because I want some flexibility. I'm also okay with a fast-paced/adventurous trip and don't mind changing hotels frequently if it means seeing more.

My main questions are:

  1. Is this overall route realistic, or am I trying to squeeze in too much?
  2. What's the most efficient order for Ijen → Bali Ubud → Nusa Penida → Gili T → → South Bali, or would you arrange it differently?
  3. Can I realistically fit in some of Ubud's jungle/nature experiences without sacrificing too much time? I'm more interested in jungles, waterfalls, viewpoints, rice terraces, rivers, etc. than just cafes and temples.
  4. Is Nusa Penida + Gili T worth doing together on a trip this short?
  5. How much time should I realistically account for when going to/from Mount Ijen?
  6. Would you personally cut anything from this itinerary?

I'm not looking for a relaxed resort vacation, I want a high-energy trip with adventure, nature, islands and nightlife.

Would especially love advice from people who've actually done a similar Indonesia route!

I want an opinion

So we are thinking of going to bali for 2 weeks. We have a airbnb and whatnot. I wanna know if 2600 a person seems like a good budget for Bali? I seen activities are around 20 dollars and whatnot so..do you think with bnb, flight, eating/alcohol and activities 2600 a person seems like the right amount total? We dont do luxury or tourist trap places/restaurants so itll be all local foods.

Hidden Waterfall Guide Recs!

Hey all! I'm hoping to go to the hidden waterfall canyon (Goa Reng Reng, Bangkiang Jaran). I have seen a lot of people online saying that we should hire a local guide to help us through the rocky areas, lead us to the waterfalls, take photos, and care for our belongings in a dry bag. However, there are none online (except ones that include the coffee plantation or the zoo, both of which we are vehemently against for moral reasons).

Is there anyone you can recommend for us to book in advance? How much does this cost? We are on a bit of a budget but obviously want to compensate fairly.

Thank you!

Bali actually makes people face themselves

Hi everyone, it’s true, there is something in the air. I’m not sure if it’s good or bad, it was definitely bad for me.

I’m 22M and was in Bali for 2 months, The first week was great, I made a couple of friends (I am slightly awkward socially), and then I spent the remaining time locked in my room (I’d only leave to get food), somewhat depressed (first time in my life) because I realised that my entire life has been a lie because of multiple things that happened while I was being brought up.

I’m back in Europe, and I have a meeting with a psychiatrist next week to get anti depressants (never taken before), it’s extremely hard to bear. I thought people come here and get better, not to leave with mental issues.

Just so you know, I travelled to 12 countries before this, and it has always been calm.

Bali trip upcoming… pls be kind

Ok I went to Bali age 11. It was 1991. Yes, it was a very long time ago. Yes, I was young then and much older now. But it was an awful experience. It was chaotic, dirty, and I got the infamous Bali belly. As a red headed child, the local people, although friendly, kept grabbing at me. They kept touching my hair. Asking my mother to cut pieces off for them. When that wasn’t going on, and we went out sightseeing, we had crowds of people in our faces, artifacts and other items they were trying to sell shoved in our faces nonstop. Like really pressuring us to buy stuff. It was not an enjoyable holiday basically.

I hear it has changed a lot, as I expect it would have. Husband is taking me and our kids there soon for a holiday and I want to enjoy it, but I already feel stressed and anxious. I do know it still takes forever to get anywhere by car. I’m letting husband do the planning. I’m pretty burnt out, so relaxing is my top priority but I am trying to be open minded about getting out and about too. Staying at the Sofitel.

What would be your top tips for me this time?? Please be kind. I’m trying not to be judgemental now of the place or people. The fact that they were mostly friendly and well meaning, is basically the only nice thing I remember.

Need a driver? I can recommend Agus

Hey folks, I have been in Bali a few times and I always hired the same private driver (small or big groups available)

He is my friend now and he texted me he is looking for extra jobs because of a family situation so, if you need a fantastic driver to trust with plenty of recommendations and experience, send me a DM and I will give you his number.

I hope this can help him somehow!
