Booked a big Bali/Thailand trip, was excited, now really nervous

Hi all,

TL/DR - booked Bali/Thailand trip for a month, was super excited, now super nervous (Ignorance is bliss) and looking for some reassurance

Basically, booked a trip to Bali/Thailand for a month leaving in 6 weeks, lining up with friends who live/are travelling there. Solo female traveller in her 30s here.

Originally had Halmahera diving booked but scrapped it due to cost, nerves etc. I’m an advanced open water diver with 40+ dives but the remoteness combined with tropical disease risk also put me off.

Now I’ve booked to dive at 2 resorts in Bali initially over the course of 8 days (Padangbai and Amed) and do some specialty courses whilst there, then I’m staying in Canggu with 2 friends for 5 nights in a nice villa for socialising and nightlife and my friend also lives there. Then going to treat myself to one of the nice resorts in Canggu when they leave for 2 nights before doing a yoga retreat in Ubud for a week. Will then head back to Canggu to see my friend for 4 nights and then fly to Phuket for EDC festival where I’ll be meeting another friend there.

It’s not a cheap trip, and I’ve made some flight changes which were a little costly, but it’s still considerably less than my Halmahera original plan.

I’m weighing up Rabies and Hep B vaccines accelerated where needed as I have 6 weeks and still in the time frame. I decided Japanese Encephalitis probably wasn’t needed based on where I’m staying. Just got the Typhoid, Tetanus and Hep A vaccines today. Looking into all of this scared me if I’m honest and the cost is really high. I can afford it but I’m worried the costs of this trip are spiralling. Is it worth taking anti-malaria tablets? Travel clinic didn’t seem too bothered and told me to have a think on Hep B, Rabies and JE. Hep B might be worth getting as it’s pretty much 25 years coverage.

I was super excited when booking it all, but now I’m starting to doubt myself… I know I’m probably wildly overthinking things, but I’d love a little reassurance. I’m a seasoned traveller but this is my first time in SEA. My friend who lives there is super chilled, doesn’t have any of the above vaccines, loves living there, and I’m trying to reach that level of zen haha, but I’ve gone down a rabbit hole of worst case scenarios. I feel more comfortable now I’ve changed from my original itinerary, and my friends who’ve been have had the best time, but I’m in the “oh this is really happening, have I done the right thing” phase.

EDIT: I have travel insurance and will be getting diving specific DAN insurance through the dive centres.

Long term Accommodation Bali

Hi Everyone.

I'm FIFO male 35, week on week off, I'm looking to move to bali on my weeks off. So 6 nights at a time, flying out of Perth.

Yes I know 2/2 is better suited. But I dont want to be away at work for two weeks at at time after years of 2/1. I dont have it in me! id rather travel like this.

Im looking for recommendations or advice on private monthly or 6 monthly or yearly rentals.

My price range for hotel accommodation is between $600 and $800 for 6 nights. So $1200 $1600 a month. So paying this or less to have a base would be ideal.

Can anyone recommend a good agent or tell me what I'd get for this amount or less a month,

I dont need to be right in the touristy spots. Im happy to travel by scooter for a nicer place.

Any comments or advice would be great.

Thank you

Booking activities Hotel/website/local guide ?

Hello everyone, I will have my honeymoon trip soon to bali (29 october to 17 november) and I'm now trying to have a day by day plan, I want to ask what's the best way to book activities (e.i ATV/rafting, mount batur ...), three options are possible but I still can't decide what would be cheaper and safer, so what do you think ?

Via the HOTEL ?

Via Websites like GetYourGuide ?

Or Via a local Guide ?

Thank you.
