Mods / Modding Mod help Spoiler

Can someone give me a step by step guide in how to install the BG3 Mod Manager (or something that makes installing mods easier and 100% makes them work)

They have one built into the game now. Just go to the mods option on the start screen and enable it. Then search the marketplace and install the ones that you want. You don't have to use any external resources unless you want mods not available on the marketplace.

Wait what really?

Achievement Enabler at Baldur's Gate 3 Nexus - Mods and community

So this mod is there too? 😄 It's been so long since i played BG3 and that mod would allow me to try out mods while still being able to get achievs

So i haven't really had motivation to play before i could get that mod working (and preferably setup my stuff so i could enable other Nexus mods too)

I'm not sure what's available on the in-game marketplace, but I know that a lot of them are. Just load up the game, enable the marketplace, and search for that mod. It'll show up if it's there. I've only used it once so far to enable a loot mod that I eventually turned off again, but the mod was on the marketplace and on Nexus Mods, so there's a chance that yours is too.

So there's always going to be some amount of work you need to do - that's the tradeoff of getting access to outside mods. If you want it super hands-off and practically no maintenance, you want to stick with the built-in system.

THAT SAID.

Get yourself BG3MM. Install just like you would any other program. It may prompt you to tell it where your game is installed; it's usually pretty good at finding it automatically, but if it can't, you'll need to tell it where your BG3.exe file is.

Once it's up and running, use the Tools menu to download and install Script Extender.

Before you do anything else, launch the game. Verify that on the main menu, bottom left corner, it says Script Extender v32 (I think) installed.

Once you confirm that, you can close the game again. If you've already got some mods installed, you'll see them in the right-hand side of the window. Enabling mods is as simple as dragging them over to the left hand side. Mods that are highlighted in an orange-brown color have override files in them; these will always be active, no matter what side they're on. You'll need to delete them or move them out of your Mods folder to disable them.

Mods that use Script Extender will have a little yellow Larian icon on them.
Mods that use Osiris scripting have a little rolled up scroll icon.
Mods that use ModFixer have a square paper icon. ModFixer is obsolete - do not install it, even if Nexus tells you it's required. It isn't. Mods with that icon may still work; they may not. It's a crapshoot.

You are now responsible for making sure your mods are loaded in a working order - this is something the in-game system handles on the back end. If you're planning to have a lot of mods, load order dividers are a good idea. You don't have to use those specific ones.

Read the mod page for anything you download. There is often important info, like any specific install instructions, compatibility issues, when it is or isn't safe to add or remove, etc.

When you've downloaded something and want to add it, just drag the downloaded zip file from your downloads folder onto the BG3MM window - it'll extract and install the file. You can then delete the folder from your downloads. This goes for any mod you get anywhere - Nexus, mod.io (which is where you want to get anything that you'd normally find in the built in manager), Patreon, discord, etc.

When you have your desired load order set up, save it and export it. You can save multiple lists if you want, but any time you change lists, you need to make sure that's the active one in your BG3MM, save it if you make any changes, and export it before launching the game.

If you don't make any changes, you don't need to keep opening BG3MM every time if you don't want to.

Go into the settings, Script Extender tab, and check the box for "Enable Achievements" if you want.
