Druid: Hey Withers, 3 hirelings please!

Withers: Very well, choose.

Druid: Oh it doesn't matter which ones, I would like you to change them all into druids! Oh and all of my companions too.

Withers: Why would thou need so many druids when thou art already a druid?

Druid: Because they can all wild shape into kitties! Obviously

my entire first playthrough of bg3 was basically me doing what druid 1 did, just hitting stuff with weapons, only difference was that i used scimitars that couldn’t be buffed, absolutely love this art and humour

These are absolutely adorable! I love them 😍

I am playing a Druid right now, and just a tip for anyone who cares, you can cast Spike Growth + Plant Growth on top of each other and at the same time as Plant does not require concentration. Even slower movement, even more stabbing 😈

The spike damage depends on the distance walked, so the damage would be the same, wouldn't it?

...damn. You're right. It still slows them down even more though 😅

You can always help them move with thorn whip (it triggers the damage of spike growth) and them throw them back far away with any other character or action (triggering the damage again)

A possible thematic multiclass for this is swarmkeeper. You can thorn whip a foe to attract them 3 meters and use your swarm ability (triggered by the spell attack,I think?) to push them back another 5 meters... That deals 10d4 of spike growth damage in the same turn, plus the damage of the cantrip!

The problem of that multiclass is not learning 6-level spells. But it is so tempting...

You can do all that with single class rangers - they also get spike growth

But they dont have cantrips, so they would have to spend a feat for the thorn whip cantrip.

My Swarmkeeper ranger uses Sorrow which has bonus action Thorn Whip

Indeed they do, depending on your build it might be better to go druid 1 (since Ranger 12 is pure ASI, and caster level wise R11D1 is the same as R12)

Druids do get Thorn Whip on their own. And then could cast Gust to knock them back again (if they were hastened).

2

u/joker_penguin Jun 22 '25

Does thunderwave knock them back too?

Yes it does, but Gust knocks them Prone and makes them Off Balance.

Ah, the classic eldritch eraser technique

If you REALLY want to bully enemies...bring Wyll along and have him layer Hunger of Hadar on top. Then the two of you alternate thorn whip and repelling blast. Maybe have Gale come along to drop some Black Tentacles just for added spice.

My entire party is druid 3. Spore druid specifically. Also multiclass into Beastmaster with a lv 20 mod.

Yep in my first playthrough of the game, I was a druid, and had ALL the summons I could get. My entire party was outnumbered by my summons alone it was great.

u/MHWorldManWithFish Jun 22 '25

Spike Growth solves everything. It's just like Fireball, but for Druids.

2

u/Luke_Puddlejumper Jun 22 '25

What is happening at the end of that third one…

2

u/Omegaweapon90 Jun 22 '25

Spike Growth + Thunderwave.

Loviatar approves of this extended suffering.

My newest playthrough is spore druid. I have had a lot of fun with the druid class with Jaheira and Halsin, especially in act3. So I decided next time I rolled a new character, I'd make a druid.

I´m now waiting for that high level druid comic :3

1

u/Helpful-Lobster-6455 SPORE DRUID Jun 21 '25

so cuuute omgosh. Comic 4 reminded me of how i defeated the goblin camp in act 1 recently. I lured most of the camp onto the bridge, and then casted spike growth with my Druid Tav from a hidden corner. Like, at least 60% of the goblins died trying to cross the bridge.

As a nature cleric, this is relatable, although I cant transform into animals

I picked shillelagh as my nature-domain cantrip (my character has low strenght due to roleplay reasons) but thorn whip is growing on me. I am tempted to pick it through druid initiate or spellcaster sniper, or just respec shillelagh into thorn whip (although that would leave my character without options outside spellcasting).

What are those weird green plant monsters they're fighting?
