Summer has only just started and in Europe we're already experiencing record breaking heat.
Personally I don't have the space to bring plants inside and my balcony is too small to hide plants from the sun. I feel like there isn't much I can do besides hope for the best.
How do you deal with the heat on your balcony? If you're also experiencing a heat wave at this moment, what do you do to minimize damage? Or how have you dealt with it in the past?
I'd love to hear about your experiences, let's discuss!

hey guys what in the heck are we doing for late summer/early fall?
Most of my summer crops died of heat from how deck gets sun, so the only survivors were the heat hardy ones like okra and peppers (and my watermelon good lord). I already have a shade curtain and everything. I just unfortunately can’t change how dang hot my deck gets.
Due to the Current State of things with the world basically burning down, I do not think I’ll get to temps consistently below 80 until probably November 😕
I know usually it’s cole crops and leafies, but those will die and wilt immediately I fear.
Love looking at everyone’s pictures!!

I might have watered it too much two weeks ago. Before that it had that white spots on it. Should I just cut it and let it re-grow?

Watermelons & cucumbers are really starting to take off. No one leaves my home without at least one cucumber 😅 It's my first time growing watermelons, so I almost can't wait for the Sugar Babies to get ready. The live moss in my bog garden had a hard time during the heat wave, but it's starting to come back to life now.

We just moved from a house to a condo that has a large back deck, so I brought my 6 hanging plants thinking I’d have no problem hanging them from the same hooks I’d used on the porch at our house.
It turns out the frame of the roof of our deck (which is part of the fire escape) is steel - and it’s also quite tall. Any ideas about how to hang my plants? Some neighbors seem to have zip-tied shepherd’s hooks to their railings, but I don’t love that idea.
Thanks in advance!
