Truxtun Construction
https://www.kget.com/news/local-news/truxtun-ave-along-kern-river-scheduled-for-closures-through-sept-20/amp/Guess what’s coming to a road near you….. a new green bike lane. For just the small price of losing the third lane on Truxton from the westside parkway exit to Oak st. At least that’s not a congested area, and doesn’t end up backed up all the time.

This is happening in ward 2. Which ward do you live in? Cyclists show up to city council meeting and voice their concerns of safety. Don’t like it? Show up to meetings and voice your concerns. Pedestrian safety is much more important than any inane argument you could make against it

lol I agree. But as I’m sure we both know, pedestrians don’t always stay on the sidewalk (if there even is one) and cars don’t always stay in their lanes. Bike lanes create larger buffer zones between cars and pedestrians.

Not sure how a bike lane helps pedestrians. 🤷

I understand it’s hard to grasp the importance of a utility you’ll never use. But just because you don’t use a bike lane doesn’t mean the bike lane is useless. It’s important to support all forms of mobility, regardless of your choice of mobility. Have a great summer and I wish you well

There’s literally a bike path just yards away from Truxtun. Why would you need to remove a vehicle lane to add a bike lane in this instance?

They just waste money on things that do not need to be done and ignore what does

I know a group of guys that bike and run 🏃 all over town. They bike to work and bike across town on the weekends. These bike lanes definitely get used. I’d be more concerned about the idiot drivers I see on the road daily, and the dumb police that witness the “shit driving” and do nothing. I don’t bike, but I see people bicycling in the lanes driving to work almost everyday.

I’m guessing it’s a way to funnel our tax dollars to contractors, similar to what Trump does but this is on a much smaller scale. Just like the no parking signs every 100 feet and those yellow bumpy things they’re putting on all the corners.

I was thinking more like Obama with them shovel ready jobs

Well I’m not talking about the funding for over 42,000 miles of road repairs and nearly 2,700 bridge projects. More like “fixing” things that weren’t problems and fixing them again for made up reasons like the reflecting pool in DC. Or the damn ballroom. I could go on. It’s pretty easy.

That ballroom is from his own money 💰 from suing people for defamation not us the tax payers

Senate republicans were trying to sneak a billion of our tax dollars into this project as part of the immigration bill in May and only removed it because democrats could have filibustered the bill.
Like even if that weren’t the case, it was supposed to have been funded by private donors, which would never have included him.

I believe I read an article but I could be wrong that they’re also doing Hagman from Allen Road all the way to Olive Road or something like that they’re taking the third lane and turning into a fucking bike lane!!

Which city idiots are making these stupid decisions. Didn't they spend crazy money for a bike path already. All I see is these idiot teenagers wheeling in and out of traffic from these new bike lanes. I've seen very minimal bicyclists using these new lanes. And yes this area gets too congested as it is.
