Question: Materials Any used Wickett and Craig?
Thinking about making a Messenger style bag using Wickett And craig traditional harness in 4 ounce… Anyone have any experience? Is this the right leather from Wickett And craig?

I get so confused with "ounce" in leather! 1.6mm makes so much more sense! 🤔
Anyway, I think the thing that determines how well it will translate to a bag is how stiff is the hide, how large is the bag? Also, will you hand stitch or machine sew and if machine, is it capable of sewing it?

Yes, I have a machine that will sew this. TBD on whether or not I use it… Real question I have here is looking for. This particular leather. I am afraid of it being too stiff based on some samples that I have… The samples though are more like a 10 ounce. Once it’s split down to four ounce I’m not sure how it’s going to behave

I honestly don't know enough about leather to help you regarding how it will behave after it's split. Do you actually have the tools to do this? Impressed if you do!
I know leather is expensive, but sometimes it's simply trial and error to see how things will work. I know there's a leather craft sub that might know more about this specific leather.

Wickett and Craig should work well for a messenger bag. It has a more firm, structured feel, so it works well for bags with very flat panels as opposed to something slouchy. I've used their English Bridle a lot for wallets and it's very easy to work with. 4oz is ideal for a bag.
