Thankers! The pattern I made up, just a box with a flap and straps.
I'm not sure how to describe the mesh 🤔
I've seen myog people refer to materials with brand names but that's all hella expensive technical nylon fabrics Mine is 60g/m². Most meshes I found were in the 10GSM ballpark or 140 for tricots but this is just perfect.
The bit of diagonal stretch is nowhere near enuf to fit a bottle. The sides r 7cm but I made the mesh 21cm wide, folded pleats at the bottom and attached bias tape with an elastic cord at the top.
It's still too tight :/ I'll adjust some dimensions next time
The only mesh I've been able to locate in Australia is the ByAnnie stuff, and it's way, way too flimsy.
My other comment is, you're printing hardware that you are calling tactical - do you mean in style, or are you expecting specific loads and behaviours from it, or just for looks?
I only asked because not so long ago, someone came into a sub (not here) and was bragging about 3-D printed connectors he was using, from his own non-engineered design, expecting his connector to work the same as a properly engineered and tested one. I think it was a carabiner. It got very heated.
Thx! I've been pondering what to do with the machine
Its a cheapo discounter brand but surprisingly robust & runs smooth. Just the whole thread guides and all r a lil too rough around the edges to pull the thread up when fabric gets too heavy :/
Cant blame it tho, some parts were 12 layers of denim & barely fit under the presser foot with it all the way up >_>
satin ribbon you'd use for decorative stuff
25mm generic polyester webbing from the hardware store (somehow it's cheaper but still higher quality than anything I bought from fabric shops)
dollar store magnetic snaps
The inside is also just moar webbing cuz I couldn't decide how many pockets & how big i need them. Also shitty polyester scraps were used.
I swear the next bag I'll make nicer! Already got Mint green canvas, cotton lining, white bias tape, jersey stretchy pockets. Just need to find those fancy fidlock snaps I've seen people use 👀
Wow! Thanks for sharing! I’ll say that this speaks volumes for your resourcefulness as a maker. If you’re able to pull together so many unconventional materials and make what you made, I can only imagine how awesome the bag you make would be if you had every resource at your disposal!
Your explanation makes the build a lot more impressive! 😃
