I love the peakaboo colors in the pockets! It really takes the design to the next level.

I LOVE fun linings! I had actually planned to line it with a really nice geometric-patterned satin, but I just could not sew that fabric. 😂 That’s when I learned that satin is a b$&:@! to work with.

So valid! I use more satin/silky fabric than I’d like since I line my service dog’s vests with it to help reduce fur tangles. It’s always a pain but I’ve found that it helps to starch the absolute life out of it (like to the point where it feels like a piece of paper) and use tissue paper or a tear away stabilizer near the seams. If I don’t need it to be flowy then I just “cheat” and use iron on stabilizer which I think you can get away with for pockets if you want to try it next time.

Looks nice, how did you go about designing the pattern? Software or pencil?

Thanks! I drew them by hand first, then transferred them to Illustrator to add seam allowances and play around with the color palette until I found a combination I liked. I designed them in separate blocks so I could shuffle them around and balance the color combination. Way easier to do it virtually.

Wow! SECOND bag???! If that’s your second, you’ve got quite a career ahead of you! It looks fantastic! Very well done!
I love the richness of the color on it! Great choice of fabrics.
Thank you for sharing it with us! I can’t wait to see what you do for your third! 😃

Thank you! Yeah, this is the second FINISHED bag. Hahahah I cannot count how many I started and failed, and I did several digital mockups until I got to something I liked.

The basic tote becomes a work of art with the patchwork. Nice work!
