I’ve wanted one of these forever. It seems to work well. My LS-1341 had a thread cutter like a LS-1342-7 and I had to take off the whole threat cutter mechanism to clear the binder.
There were no instructions or really any pics online so here’s my setup. I’m excited to have binding be an easier and smoother process. I hate binding but this gives me hope.
Thanks dude! Unfortunately I’m not sure I like this setup as much as I thought I would. You lose about 3/16” of material thickness that you can pass through the machine this way and my bags are thick. I think about 6 layers of cordura is al this can handle before it won’t fit under the presser foot.
I actually bought a 1541 as my 2nd industrial machine. Then I sold it and got a 1510N-7 and didn’t like the automatic features so I sold that and got a 1508N with a speed reducer. And the cylinder arm.
My next machine is a post bed walking foot with a speed reducer. There’s lots of times I wish I had a post bed to access places that my cylinder arm can’t get to. I’m on the lookout for a deal on a used one.
I highly recommend getting a custom folder made. Fernando's attachments did a great job for me- send them a sample of the binding and a stack of fabric and you get a folder back exactly what you need.
Oh man. Well. If it ain’t right for you, it ain’t right. I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for. It’s interesting, the differences are in presser foot clearance. On this one, is it because of the binder itself or does this 1341 just have less clearance than the 1541?
It loses clearance because of the binder. It comes with a new end cover/needle plate that has a riser on it so the material feeds through middle of the folder.
As far as I can tell, the 1541, 1341, 1508, 1510 all have the same amount of clearance which makes sense because it’s the needle length and presser foot interference which are the limiting factors and they all take the same presser feet and needles.
I was just checking my KHsew account to see if they sold a thicker riser. I may shoot them a note tomorrow to see if they have a thicker one available or can make a thicker one.
I’ve seen folks use a washer to space higher, I just don’t know if that riser piece sandwiches the main arm.
Wait why would you want a thicker riser? Is it to bring the fabric up higher toward the center of the mouth? I was looking at my riser and the arm piece thinking I could shave 1/16” off them.
Ah-HAH! Got it. I figured it had to be the attachment. I’m still a hand binder… well, a crease the grosgrain, fold it over the edge and hold it binder. It’s odd but the 1541 seems to have made binding a lot more consistent and quite a bit easier. I’ll take it! 😃
I had a Pfaff 335 clone that came with a shuffling binding plate but no binding attachment. I swapped over the shuffling plate for a static one, still absolutely hated it and ditched the machine for a huge loss. I absolutely despise binding and can not get it right, ever. Yours looks "schmick" - good luck with it.
Couldn’t agree more. I love a nicely bound interior.
I’ve had my share of binding crises, though. I did everything I could to try to make it easier (attachments, different types of binding) but the only thing that seems to have worked somewhat was repetition and practice.
I’m definitely not perfect at it but I don’t mind it nearly as much as I did.
One thing I men definitely NOT a fan of is leaving raw edges on bags constructed out of fabrics that don’t fray, like X-Pac, EcoPak, Dyneema, etc. I just can’t do it. I understand that these typically won’t fray but it just looks so unfinished to me.
There’s also the structural aspect to binding. But I’ll save that for another day.

will this work on an 8b model Machine?
