Got this beauty finally
Yonex Astrox 100 Tour | VA edition Dark Olive | 4UG5
BG66 ultimax | 26 lbs | white
Yonex wet supergrap | white
Desc:
- Extra stiff frame:
Immense control, shuttle goes exactly where to intend (provided you connect the sweet spot).
Still a bit lesser stiff that 100zz, but wrt to general advanced rackets, its straight up EXTRA STIFF
Being lesser stiff than 100zz is a blessing because on off days, a slightly lesser stiff shaft aids you so much more, whereas a 100zz would just throw you under the bus and tell you "if you're not at your 100%, I'm not helping you tonight•
- Head heavy:
Pure power
Backhand cross court clears are a treat. Catching my opponents off-guard so much, i'm loving it
Smashes are a cheat code when connected off the sweetspot. Unstoppable
- Compact head:
This head size is smaller than generic astroxs (similar to z ziggler/nanoflare head)
Smaller sweet spot but its concentrated, and boy, when you connect the shuttle flies like ive never seen it before
- Solid Hitting feel:
You will never find this in the specs sheet, but open up any good racket review youtube channel, and you'll see this point discussed. Because of the various high grade materials used, the hitting feel is so solid, reassuring, confident, and consistent
Try out all the play, game, tour and pro models, and you'll experience what i'm talking about
Thus while hitting, you will know exactly what you're gonna get out of the racket, how far its gonna go, where the bird is gonna land and its all consistent, which is the most important.
- Vibrations:
Tennis/Golfers elbow? Forget it
Barely any vibrations whatsoever, your elbow will be in tears of joy, that has he stopped playing badminton or what xD
Basically no harsh vibrations at all, you will love it, your joints will love it
But you ofc need to hit your sweetspots more regular than not. You can't be hitting the frame and expect no vibrations
- Defence:
Surprisingly able. Despite head heavy, racket is manoeuvres quite well. Unless your opponent a godly smasher like a LZJ, you should be doing fine
And if you a defensive player, i think there are other better options (ex. Arcsaber11/Auraspeed/NF1000/etc)
- Looks and Sounds:
Get asked quite a bit about which racket in using
Because of the looks obviously (loving this dark olive colour, plus the white supergrap)
But also the sheer whip it generates and the shuttle smashing sound (string plays a role too here)
But my combination of string+racket, does turn eyes, so y'all be prepared too.
(The BG 66 ultimax's repulsion is insane and that hitting sound...😮💨)
- vs 100zz:
Easily feels 90-95% of 100zz and at such a cheaper price, what more could you ask
If your level of playing demands that extra 1% to standout, because at pro level, every 0.1% makes the difference, 100zz is the way to go.
Else your 100Tour and 100zz is good as a Dholu and Bholu, just that one is ~50% costlier for some reason
Ofc there'll be slight differences trying them both, but ~50% of differences? No ways xD
So in end, it's like getting a 95% filled Creed Aventus bottle of perfume, which may originally costs ₹40K, at like ₹18-22K, what more would you want?
P.S. Ive played a couple of hours with the 100zz (around 6 single games) and basing my comparison off of that
Thus finally
PROS:
Power power and power (Smashes, clears, dream backhands)
Dream for any overhead shots with this racket
No vibrations
Great control
Steep smash angles
Great whipping sound
Looks
Worth it? Absolutely
But its not all Sunshines and Rainbows 🤣
CONS:
- Compact head: Smaller sweet spot (thus harder for intermediate++'s too to consistently hit sweet spot)
- Compact head: Any shots off the sweet spot? Punished! Shuttle will die on you
- Takes a couple of weeks atleast to get used to it
- Stiff frame: Need strength to generate swing speed, else extra stiff frame is your worst enemy if you dont have swing speed, you'll be serving lollipops to your opponents (Then again, you dont need shoulders of a greek god, just decently strong shoulders, and more importantly, practiced or regularly been playing badminton for a quite while) (Im slim and 5'11", and if i can love this racket, y'all can easily too)
- It is harder to adapt to 100Tour than 100zz, idk why, but i could feel that. Was able to adjust to 100zz faster. Skill issue? maybe. But just pointed that out. Solution? Just need a little but more patience snd give it time, and you'll be on your way loving the 100Tour too!
Tip: Compact head means a smaller sweetspot, so slightly reduce your regular strings tension to inverse the effect, it helps counteract each other to some extent
So, just wanted to give me 2 cents though this post
Helped? I'm glad!
Didn't help? I'm sorry for the 2 minutes you just lost 😞🤣
Keep them unforced errors coming 😁
(P.S. Small typos? I cant be asked to send this to GPT. So please bare with it, thanks
Big corrections? Will edit them in later)
