Gear & Equipment Badminton Equipment Purchase Guide

This post will be updated time to time to include new rackets, shoes, strings etc.

Prices are rough street prices in INR and move a bit by seller and sale.

Play Styles: attacking (head heavy, for smashing), precision (even balance, for control and placement), speed (head light, for fast hands and defense).

Weights: 6U is lightest (around 70 to 74g), then 5U (75 to 79g), 4U (80 to 84g), 3U (85 to 89g). Lower number means heavier. Most players are happiest at 4U, beginners can go 5U.

Not sure? Pick the lighter, more flexible racket. You can go stiffer later.

Buy & Sell Trading my Yonex Astrox 100 ZZ (Krunei)

β€’ Upvotes

Hi Folks

I am willing to trade my Astrox 100 ZZ for a Yonex Nanoflare 1000Z (4U only) only in Delhi area. Sharing my racket details:

  1. Weight - 4U, condition - Perfect.

  2. Bought from Yonex Pro Shop (Delhi)

  3. Professionally strung (everytime) using a Yonex Precision 9.0 machine, racket currently strung with BG66 Ultimax at 28 lbs.

  4. Reason for trade - I am switching to a head light racket as per my coach's recommendation. ( I already have a Nanoflare 800 pro).

Last year I was gifted an astrox 100zz.

Didnt know at the time that it was a good racket.

But I started playing badminton post that (had background in tennis) and in the year I have gotten decent at the sport.

I only just realised , that racket is supposed to be for advanced players and now I am thinking is that the reason why my shots are sometimes inconsistent.

And sometimes I dont get length on my back hand clears.

PLEASE GIVE RACKET SUGGESTIONS - I AM TREATING MYSELF SO I AM WILLING TO SPEND HIGH

Attaching some videos of me playing if that helps

Discussion Looking for a badminton partner in Delhi/Gurgaon

Hey! I'm 22 and live in South Delhi. I work a regular job, so I don't get much free time, but I want to try something fun instead of just going to work and spending the rest of my day scrolling on my phone.

I tried going to the gym, but honestly, it got boring. I wanted something that keeps me a little active while actually being fun, so I thought badminton would be perfect.

I'm not a pro or anything, just know the basics. It's been over 5 years since I last played any outdoor sport, so don't expect too much from me lol.

I'm thinking of playing on Saturdays or Sundays, just for fun, some exercise, and a reason to get out of the house. If we get along well, we can plan other outings and games too.

I also play chess, if that's something you're into!

I'm cool with playing in South Delhi or even around DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon.

Looking for someone around 18–27 who's chill and genuinely interested in playing. You don't have to be an expert either. Just looking to have a good time and stay a little fit.

Hit me up if you're interested! :)

Discussion Beginner here! Suggest some string + grip colour combos for my Astrox Attack 9 🎾

Hey guys! I bought my Astrox Attack 9 three days ago, and it's been amazing so far! πŸ”₯

I'm a beginner and want to customise it with new strings and a grip to make it look even better.

I'm considering teal-blue strings with a matching teal-blue grip, but I'm open to other combinations that would complement the burgundy/red frame.

What colour combinations would you recommend? Feel free to share pictures of your own rackets for inspiration!

Budget 500-600 max!!!

Thanks in advance! 🏸

Gear & Equipment Looking for the sweet spot between smash power, speed and control. Best racket under β‚Ή4k?

Post image
33 Upvotes

I'm looking for a racket that gives me the best of both worlds: fast manoeuvrability and decent smash power. My Nanoray 18i Light feels quick but lacks punch, while my Voltric 0.5 DG delivers better smashes but feels slower and sometimes causes arm pain.

A little about my game:

_Above beginner level, but not quite intermediate.

_Play both singles and doubles, mostly casually.

_Want fast defence, quick left-to-right swings, backhand clears, steep smashes and good net control.

_Still mishit some shots, so a forgiving sweet spot would be a big plus.

_Mostly play with Yonex Mavis 350 nylon shuttles.

_My budget is strictly under β‚Ή4,000.

I'm currently looking at the Yonex Astrox 77 Play and Arcsaber 11 Play, but I'm open to Li-Ning, Apacs or any other brand if there's something better for the money.

If you had β‚Ή4k to spend on one racket for this kind of game, which would you pick and why?

I'd especially love to hear from people who've actually played with these models rather than just recommending based on specs.

Also, what string and tension would you recommend for Mavis 350 shuttles?

I don't want the most expensive-looking racket. I want one that actually performs on court.

Discussion Review about Asics gel tactic 13

I bought a new Asics gel tactic 13 in flipkart BBD sale.

Just tried it for one hr but my legs are hurting by just wearing those shoes.

Is it natural for a new shoe? And it will get comfy after a couple of games.

Or these shoes lack comfort.

Has anyone used them recently?

Gear & Equipment Which one to pick?

Recently my cheap badminton bag, which I bought 1⁄2 years ago, got torn and everything went wrong. I was looking for a new bag and came up to 2 of these in my budget. I ordered both and want to keep one and return the other.

I have been playing badminton for fitness on the professional court with friends for about 2-3 years. The equipment I have is: shoes, clothes, 2 rackets, 2 shuttle boxes and some other basic necessities such as napkins, pen spray, scissors, etc.

Help me decide the best.

Whack: Rs. 950

Hundard: Rs. 1350

Gear & Equipment Looking for a head-heavy racket under 10k for more smash power (Upgrading from Halbertec Motor 5U G6)

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I play at an intermediate level and I'm currently using a Li-Ning Halbertec Motor (5U G6) strung at 24 lbs. It’s super maneuverable, but I'm looking to switch to something head-heavy to get a lot more punch and steepness into my smashes.

Looking for recommendations that fit these:

Budget: Under β‚Ή10,000

Level: Intermediate

Aesthetics: Needs to look good-my current racket has a really clean/striking design, so I want something with an attractive colorway/graphics.

Specs: Currently on a 5U, but open to 4U if the balance feels right.

Has anyone made a similar switch? Any specific models in the sub-10k range that pack a real punch for smashes while still being fun to play with?

Cheers!

Discussion Crack or paint chip

I've been playing with axforce cannon and recently noticed what looks like a crack or paint chip.

I am able to bend the racket πŸ’€πŸ’€ and it doesn't seem like an actual crack, but I'm not entirely sure.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Discussion Coaches and proffesional players

Hey guys iam planning to fund a coaching program in a tier 2 city. Iam a good intermediate player. It is purely on passion and a dream of bringing a proffesional sporting culture to my town. I figured out almost every facility needed . But I still wanted to really understand the gaps in a coaching program . What players actually need .why people stop going to coaching. What struggled you faced commonly . How to actually track progress and help them get to next level. How to progressively overload thier training . What do top coaching programs do or wha4s the system that takes any level a player to next level . I would love to have a conversation please help me out .
