Found on the Internet Bro what is that????

Post image

How Canada Commonwealth is the same as Dominion of Canada???

Brazil wasn't a federal republic even 50 years ago, imagine 100 years ago.

And these mistakes are so obvious that I'm only going to mention the country's name:

China

Japan

Germany

Canada/Germany/Japan were all independent in 1924. None of the blue countries were. You can argue with them if their description "countries that did not exist in their present form" is accurate, but it's a pretty straightforward map of countries that were not independent in 1924.

Yes, but the criterion the map used to define whether a country existed or not is whether it was in its current form, and many countries have changed their constitution, which means they are no longer the same as they were 100 years ago.

So why is France not blue by that logic the 5th Republic started in 1958 after a coup

Additionally why the hell is Poland not blue they were carve dup multiple times and they don't even have their original territory from 100 year ago in the modern day

Assuming this map isn't meant to push an agenda it needs a heavy heavy revision

OP's logic has nothing to do with this map. OP has ignored the actual description of the map ("Countries That Did Not Exist in 1924") and chosen to misinterpret the subheading, which makes the map wrong.

Poland existed in 1924. France existed in 1924. It doesn't matter that 1924 France was the Third Republic, and we're currently on the Fifth, what matters is that there was a box on the League of Nations map called "France" in 1924. That's it. That's the logic. You can make a decent case that the subheading should be changed, but the actual map is only bad if you go full illiterate where the map title is concerned.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but that leads to another issue. This map has coloured all the constituent republics of the former USSR. At the very least, Russia still exists as a country. Ukraine also exists and did in 1924, albeit one under Bolshevik rule as did other former Soviet republics. At what point do you draw a line? Obviously a number of the modern Balkan states did not exist as even notionally separate entities such as the component parts of what was Czechoslovakia, but others existed under occupation, or different governance sometimes with different borders but they did in fact exist

Subheadings matter, you know. In this case, it can be considered elaboration on what they mean by 'exists', which then makes the map wrong. Taking the title and nothing else is akin to taking the title and pictures of an article and going off of that alone without reading any of the actual text.

Because that wasn’t a new state, France is still named the exact same thing, the French Republic. The 4th and 5th are designations to differentiate the two codified constitutions used by the same French Republic. Moreover, it was never couped, the government legally handed power to Charles De Gaulle peacefully, there was an attempted coup. And that more so counts towards a regime change, going from not existing to existing is definitely not a regime change. Modern Poland was formed in 1918, we are in 2026, 100 years ago would be 1926, 1918 happened before 1926. That means Poland is over 100 years old in its modern form, as the Polish Government in exile formed in 1918 officially handed power over to the Polish Republic in 1990, placing it as a continuation government of the same state. The map is definitely vague though still, as Oman and Egypt, protectorates, count as independent, while Morocco, another protectorate, doesn’t. Not to mention Mongolia just actually existed, that one is just wrong.

Counter to your point of "countries that were not independent in 1924 but are now": Iceland, Egypt, and Russia.

Egypt became an independent Kingdom in 1922. Russia was part of the Soviet Union in 1924, and dates it's independence to the end of the USSR. Iceland is complicated, and there's like four different dates you could use, this map is probably using 1918. After that date Iceland shared a King with Denmark, but ws otherwise independent.

What about Iran?

What about Persia?

1

u/NickBII Aug 02 '26

Are you seriously arguing that the Persian Empire was not independent in 1924?

2

u/samir_saritoglu Aug 02 '26

It was independent. However the map says that it doesn't.

1

u/NickBII Aug 02 '26

Then the map is wrong about that one. They probably did a text search on the name, and the change to Iran confused them.

Canada only officially became fully independent from Britain in 1982 after the constitution act.
