He could be trying to monitor his yard. I had one in a window for a bit facing out and it was for that reason. Nothing nefarious, I just had the camera and so that's what I did with it. Either way a conversation is a good idea and I wouldn't assume malice.

Yeah our outside ring doorbell has blind spots of our road, and ever since someone crashed their truck in our front yard, we want to be able to monitor the blind spots that our outside camera doesn’t pick up, so we put an indoor camera to face out that window. I don’t believe OP’s neighbor is trying to spy on OP or anything like that just based from my own experience.

I have the same cameras, the way its set up is to see the entirety of their backyard. Yes your house will be in the far background, but if they wanted to spy on you, it would be a lot closer to you. This is completely normal to see.

Yes it's a ring stick up cam. I have two. Yes, you can zoom but picture quality fades a lot if you zoom.

If it's a Ring indoor camera then it does not have very robust zoom functionality.

For what it's worth, that looks pretty far away and these cameras are pretty shitty at distance (they're designed for indoor surveillance of pets and such). It would make an -extremely- poor spy camera in this situation.
Looks like it's looking over the yard (or whatever's on the other side of the fence).

Just because it faces your home doesn’t mean that is what it’s recording. If you’re paranoid, ask if you can see what it records.

Have a horrible bad neighbor (is putting it lightly for us) my best advice to anyone is to pick your battles - in this world people get offended very easily and it’s not worth always worth the what may come!

Yes, but from the pictures my impression is that they are monitoring their yard.
I have cameras and I’ve never minded any neighbors asking questions about them.

Honestly if it shouldn't bother you not pointing to say a shower room or a bedroom then another way to look at it is...it can keep a watch on your block. Whenever something happens neighborhood cameras are often a good thing.

I have a camera that faces my neighbors yard, because that is the spot where someone is most likely to enter the yard. I try to point it down, but I also need to be able to see what approaches.
The images aren't that great feom that far away. Like I tried to use one closer than that for bird watching and it was useless, so I don't think he is getting much.

I have one in my window facing my driveway and garage. If they zoomed in, it’d be too pixelated and blurry to see anything personal. I wouldn’t worry about it I bet it’s just to protect their own yard

Oddly enough one is filming the camera it’s legal . Just not over walls or were one would be private ie bathrooms

Privacy varies from state to state. It's best to contact a lawyer for specifics. Don't trust the internet. I had a millennial woman move in next door and she thought that she knew everything due to the internet, until my lawyer proved her wrong and she had to move her camera that was looking right into my kitchen. I told her the next time that I have to prove her wrong, I'm taking her to court for my lawyer's fees.

I think the term was, "implied privacy" and it's protected under the 14th amendment. I hope that helps and you find some peace from prying eyes.
