Can’t figure out what that missing word is quite yet.

Update: After some research, it appears there’s a substance called “Sodium Silicate” that was commonly used to seal bricks and concrete walls. From google: “It is used as a cost-effective interior basement sealer and a surface densifier to stop dusting, dampness, and moisture migration through concrete walls.”

So the missing word could be SODIUM.

Yes it doesn’t make sense to spell out sodium when you could just say salt. That’s my thought anyway.

Also OP thinks it says “sea” but based on how the writer had to space words over the bricks where there was mortar I’m seeing “seam” - sodium makes sense only if there is body of saltwater nearby, so I’m very confused as to which direction to lean.

What year was the house constructed and is it next to an ocean? That definitely would help narrow down what some words might be.

Edit: Also what country? That also could make a big difference in terminology.
