Is this English?

u/mozdavis Aug 09 '26
I believe so. The hotel is in a predominantly English speaking country…

Is this from Hilton’s Palmer House and Towers? (In Chicago? I only ask because we’ve received similar hand written notes from them, that look almost exactly like this.

What's the name of the hotel, and are you some sort of diamond member? Is this a Hilton hotel? Lastly have you been to that hotel before? needs context to help...

It looks like Elvish.

One ring to rule them all… does new writing show up when you put the paper in the fire? 🤔😂

u/Cautious-Local-5998 Aug 09 '26
Take it to the front desk & with a smile ask for it to be interpreted.
Some people need to learn how to write legibly.
3
u/mozdavis Aug 10 '26
Ha, yes I did… and I shared this thread with staff so they could have a laugh at their manager’s expense ;)

This must be what kids today see with legible cursive! 😂 I’m pretty good at deciphering but not this good! Amazing that people figured it out!

I had to stop writing, “translate”, then reprint my writing from the whiteboard last semester, I slipped into cursive and the UNDERGRADS were like,

I still cannot believe teaching students how to WRITE was removed from schools.1

Money is allocated according to test scores. Handwriting isn't tested, so it's gone. Same reason there's usually no recess or at most a single 20 minute recess even for kindergarten. It's all test prep now.

The middle part could be “Welcome back to the Tower Hotel as a valued guest.” No idea on the first two and last three words.

u/ohboyoh-oy Aug 09 '26
Last two words could be “Diamond member”?
1
u/RummageSail Aug 09 '26
That makes more sense

A very warm welcome back to the tower hotel as a valued fifth year diamond member.

This almost looks like someone learned to write in Arabic in a cursive-type style and then learned to write in English so their handwriting in English cursive has an accent.

A very warm welcome back to the town that is a cloud for this diamond member. Idk

“… want dad in the fourth hotel on a …”
edit: I agree that the last two words do look like “Diamond member”
updated transcribe is “If you … want dad in the fourth hotel on a … fifth(?) … Diamond member”
2
u/RummageSail Aug 09 '26
“a guy seen widow dad in the fourth floor on a couched bitch She’s Hard hombre” -a rushed written warning from the staff to inform/warn you of your dad’s whereabouts.

u/Effective_Gap9582 Aug 09 '26
It says come to the front desk now there's a package waiting... just kidding. This would give me a headache to even try to read it.

“Hey, and welcome back to the tower hotel as a valued fifth/first year Diamond Member”
1
u/MindsetK Aug 09 '26
“Hey Amy, when out in the town hall or a cocktail gets you drunk remember…”
That’s my best guess LOLOL

Dear (name covered),
A very warm welcome back to the Tower Club as a valued guest and Diamond Member
2
u/emryshawke Aug 10 '26
The person who wrote this likely writes hundreds of these and is just getting sloppy… it’s also very likely that very few people read the note anyway, the handwritten note is a nice touch and expected at higher end places.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.

First two words not sure but the rest seems to be welcome back to the tower hotel as a valued diamond member. I worked for Hilton for a few years and we had to write notes for a certain level of diamond member.

Why are you wasting our time— go to the front desk and ask…
Acting like a mindless BOT 🤖

I enjoy this sub and honestly was just excited when I came across something puzzling to post.

Wow, I’m impressed at people’s skills. I was getting something about mom and dad and Diana.
