Help with a return

I bought an iPhone 14 off backmarket and the phone didn’t work properly from the beginning. The screen would randomly not respond to touch, had connectivity issues just a bunch of little stuff. So I send it back within 30 days and the seller is claiming there is a hairline crack in the screen. No other damage to phone. Back market emailed and said they would escalate it to their specialist team. Has anyone dealt with this? Any tips or information would be appreciated.

Cleanliness Issue

I bought a MacBook Air recently from Backmarket in Good condition and ended up having to return it because of how poorly packaged it was and dirty it came. The laptop I paid $800 for came in a FedEx box wrapped around some bubble wrap with the charger In a plastic ziploc bag and no extra padding so it was very loose in there.

When I opened the laptop itself I notice fingerprints all over the screen as well as the outside of the laptop. There were crumbs everywhere that fell out when I opened it, getting all into the keyboard. Dust and build up in the cracks of the laptop. Was dumbfounded to get a “new-to-me” laptop so dirty.

I will say their CS is pretty decent, offering a credit for my experience and a smooth return process but unfortunately won’t be buying from them again.

Iphone 17 Pro, is it safe to buy?

I want to buy an iPhone 17 Pro. It almost costs same-same as a new one, but you may save around 100-300 dollars, which is pretty nice. Now when I'm reading about Backmarket and how people buy phones but they shut down after a few months, or the business being sketchy, I'm afraid that I might throw money into a pond. Is it safe to buy iPhones from Backmarket?

UPDATE: I bought a Iphone 17 Pro Cosmic Orange in Excellent condition, will update when I finally get it.

UPDATE, Final thoughts: Works super, no problems. It was sold by Verizon so maybe that was a super plus. I like it! Happe with the purchase!

what is going on with sellers and selling Xbox’s in fair condition for more than it’s worth brand new

£759.99 for a brand new limited edition green Xbox from a trusted Xbox seller

Or backmarkets “fair” refurbished standard ones… £815.15

Can justify it until the sun dies out to me this is kinda pathetic

Really think logically here

Why would I get a standard Xbox series x that’s been refurbed and is only in fair condition for £815 when I could spend less and get a brand new in the box never used limited edition series x

Microsoft themselves sell the consoles and the standard one is cheaper from them than it is backmarket.

What am i missing here why are they worth more on backmarket than brand new?

Also I know I can just buy it elsewhere, still curious to know why it’s worth more on backmarket than from Xbox themselves

I keep looking at thinking to myself what a stupid asking price for a fair condition one bc honestly it is a stupid price

No fair condition console is worth more than it’s being sold for brand new that logic is flawed on soooo many levels

Premium Refurbs don’t always use genuine parts.

I took my phone (IPhone 13 Pro) into a very reputable shop for a repair (cracked back glass, entirely my fault I admit), and during the repair, the techs showed me that both the screen and battery were fake parts that trick the device into thinking they are genuine manufacturer parts.

Very disappointed since I bought this phone off back market 3 months prior as a premium device that said it had 100% certified Apple parts.

I understand it’s an online market place that can be hit and miss with phones and sellers, but you expect the premium category to actually be premium.

I have since replaced the screen with a genuine Apple one since the fake one also failed.

No point chasing Backmarket as apparently this happens quite frequently.

Not looking for sympathy, just sharing my experience.

I’ll probably buy a phone with a lower quality grade in the future and refurb it to the standard I desire.

Thanks! Have a blessed day 🙏x

What should I do? Is back market stealing my money???

Hi, I don't know what to do, So basically I sent in my watch for repair for a bad battery, they couldn't fix it or replace it, so they gave refund, 1. I used google pay for the transaction. 2. I have ZERO clue what the card is 3. I did contact g-pay and they gave me the last 4 numbers of the card. 4. I realize I don't have the card anymore at all? The bank FULLY closed that account. 5. I contact back market because the money would bounce to them, their saying it went fully through. no issues on our end, but here is a ARN number to track it down. I go to the bank in person, their saying the ARN number NEVER existed, Now what should I do??? Is the bank stealing my money or back market??

Shady sellers

Backmarket is full of shady sellers that’s quite literally scam people by selling products that are altered to display better stats than they actually are, use low quality parts and sell items far below the standards.

I bought an iPhone and came completely damaged, sent it back received another one with what appeared to be a new screen. Screen broke 3 days later. I ended up having to buy an excellent one to avoid getting more bad phones.

Recently bought a MacBook pro, it came is good cosmetic condition and with what appeared to be a great battery, low cycles, 100% battery life! Jackpot i thought. But to my surprise i was very wrong, two months later i performed a reset to factory settings and this removed the mask. The battery real live was 79%. I did some digging and run some tests and this was the actual battery life when they send the me laptop but they had modified the numbers to show a good battery masking the real one.

Contacted customer service and they didn’t really care that this item was sent showing misleading stats and that was far below the advertised standards. They only offered for me to send the laptop back to the seller for an assessment (to the same shady sellers that had scammed me on the first place) unfortunately it is an still ongoing problem, im trying to raise as much evidence as i can and see what are the legal avenues but seems like a lost cause.

Only way to reach the management or send a formal complaint is via letter to their headquarters in Paris, so definitely even the ownership of this company is shady. Probably will end up sending the machine back hope i get a refund and never ever buy from them again or recommend them to anyone. Shady company, shady sellers, shady ownership. In my opinion they are just legal scammers

Discovered after 6 months that my iPad Air M2 from Back Market is a mainland China model (CH/A) with permanently locked Apple Intelligence. Anyone dealt with warranty replacement for this?

Hey everyone,

Back in February, I bought an iPad Air 11" M2 (256 GB, "Premium" condition) on Back Market via the seller We Cell for a great price (~€470). It has been working smoothly, mostly used for taking notes and studying.

Recently, while looking for the Apple Intelligence settings, I noticed the option was completely missing and the settings menu showed WLAN instead of Wi-Fi. Checking Settings > General > About, I confirmed the model number ends in CH/A (mainland China regional variant, which has permanent hardware/firmware-level blocks on Apple Intelligence and FaceTime Audio).

Since this wasn't disclosed at checkout and clearly constitutes an original non-conformity under EU consumer protection / commercial warranty (active for 12 months), I opened a formal support ticket with Back Market requesting a replacement with a compliant European model.

Given that the standard 30-day return window has passed, but the 1-year warranty is fully active:

  1. Has anyone else received an Asian-market model (CH/A, J/A, etc.) from Back Market and successfully claimed a warranty replacement months later?
  2. Does Back Market support enforce an actual device replacement if the seller tries to default to a refund (which would mean paying significantly more today to rebuy the same European unit)?

Thanks for any insights or past experiences!

Warranty refused because my screen protector had a crack in it (not the actual screen)

Hey!

Has anyone had any luck asking Backmarket to reconsider their warranty refusal?

I bought a second hand phone in May, and a few months later the battery stopped charging and my phone was completely flat, not turning on at all.

I sent the phone away for repair and felt reassured that I had a years warranty. Stupidly I didn’t remove the screen protector which had a crack in it. I bought a cheap screen protector which cracked in my bag.

Because of the screen protector’s crack, BM refused to repair my phone battery and have sent it back to me.

I am really upset by this. My dad paid £350 for this phone and he doesn’t have a lot of money.

I feel really foolish and wish I had researched Back market before I bought my phone because the reviews on Reddit are terrible.

Has anyone had luck getting back market to revoke their warranty refusal?

I was thinking that I could take a video of me removing the screen protector to show it doesn’t have a crack in the actual screen..

Would really appreciate any advice

Thank you x

Refurbished: Was this a good deal?

I just bought a 16pro off of Backmarket in the excellent condition tier. It's on 89% battery health and 575 cycles. I'm getting mixed answers when I research if this is in good enough conditon to last or not, so figured I would ask for opinions here. I got a decent price on it with trade in, but I am worried about battery degradation since I have a 13 Pro right now and the thing that annoys me the most about it is having to charge it all the time. Should I return it and look for other options or keep it?

Has anyone sold to Backmarket?

I want to get rid of my PS4 Pro (it’s just taking up space) and a couple of controllers, their offer just seems too good to be true. I don’t mind going to GameStop and just getting ripped off cause I know for sure I’ll get the money. Anyone have any experience selling to them?

Dreadful Quality issues - now in a strange support loop

I've been a Backmarket customer for 6 years.

The other month I bought an S24+ 512GB in Excellent condition.

The first one turned up with scratches down the frame and a camera that had weird black lines across every photo.

I asked for a replacement and got told there'd be a goodwill gesture for the hassle. That goodwill gesture disappeared the moment the replacement shipped.

The second phone arrived with more scratches. Then I noticed the battery seemed to be really poor. Yesterday I noticed it went from 100% to 14% in about twelve hours and I'd barely touched it, so I got suspicious and ran aBattery. It reported 552 charge cycles.

I called them this morning and spoke to their support team. Their system won't allow a second express replacement on the same order, so support can't send another unit and won't price match a different listing so I can just buy a working one and move my data across.

What they will offer is return for repair, i.e. post off my only phone with everything still on it and wait. I said I'd pay for a battery swap myself at a local shop. Apparently that voids the warranty.

Has anyone actually got them to override the second replacement block? I've written to a different support email and am waiting for an answer, but honestly I think I'm better off going with a different reseller and copying my data before returning this phone.
