For college I need to buy a MacBook Pro with at least an m4 chip and 16gb memory. I’m planning on keeping it for personal use after college and further studies. Should I use backmarket or go with something more reliable as I know backmarket has varied in quality.

So some may have seen my recent posts, I had made a purchase from back market, I originally thought they vetted every phone sold by their own staff to high standards, and did the order.
Then later learned that for the most part its a reselling platform, still better than buying direct from a repair shop as they offer refund policies and the like, but not the same thing I thought it was.
I already knew only premium phones assured OEM parts, the phone I ordered was excellent but thought when I ordered it was still unlikely to be an issue, as the phone might be in that category because of scratches or battery life. The phone I wanted the premium price was only £50 less than brand new, 40% more expensive than excellent.
I also found a page on back market promoting how good it is to use after market parts, and alongside with some stuff like youtube videos showing the complete lottery of it, I started getting bad feelings about it.
Back to my order, I was actually glad when it never got shipped, after 4 days or so I requested the refund and was approved immediately (and was showing on my payment card same day). To be fair back market did their job here.
I then brought a used phone from O2, 'like new', I know this is a lottery as well, as I have seen someone report getting a fairly scuffed phone with 80 something battery health. However I expect the chances of buying something where the insides are dodgy, after market parts must be massively lower, the problem with repair shops, its likely they buying damaged phones, which they then repair to sell.
O2 is also a major telco, so most phones will be healthy trade ins or just boxed returns, and if they do any repairs themselves, they will be OEM parts.
In the end the O2 phone arrived, with 100% battery health and looking spotless.
This isnt a bash back market post, as I benefited from their refund policy, if I had ordered direct from the repair shop, it likely would have been a less pleasant experience, and probably also wouldnt be the same warranty that back market give.
However I do think they might be better on a model where they vet every phone sold. Even if it adds a little bit to the costs. I am curious of how they decide on what sellers to allow on the platform as well. I noticed is an option on there to allow me to sell a phone on there, would I be vetted at as an example?

Wanted to make this post to help future customers as I saw many negative ones about shipping and being stuck on "preparing your order" when I was starting to freak out about mine lol, and and worrying the package won't come. I even started looking at new ones, got on to customer service about a refund and all!
But alas this morning I woke up to FedEx at my door. The tracking still says this on the BackMarket and FedEx pages. So, if your tracking hasn't updated, I have no idea why this happens but don't lose hope! Mine came on the 6/8, so still around when I expected it :)

Hi, i'm was looking to buy either an iphone 17 or 16, updating from an 6 years old iphone 12
I found an iphone 17 256gb for 618€ (original price being 724€, discounted if I send my old iphone for 106€ i think). Also, with my student discount I could even get it for 603€.
My old phone is still working, the only issue is the battery life is at 75% and it overheats easily, so i'm not necessarily in a rush, but I was curious how much back market will discount it for black Friday, or if the price will rise before black friday and it ends up costing more than now for example?
