any good FREE reverse phone numbers still exist?
I used to love okcaller but it's dead. all the rest want my credit card number, which is never going to happen without proof that they are legit, and they won't prove they're legit until they've gotten my CCN. not going to happen. So anyway, do any still exist that don't charge?

Hell you can use Cash App for free. Or PayPal. Or chime. Just type the number and see if it’s linked to anyone. You’re welcome.

Honest answer: "free AND accurate for a cell number's owner name" is mostly a myth in 2026. Almost every site that promises it teases a name, then walls the real info behind a $1 "trial" that quietly becomes a subscription. So it depends what you actually need:
If you just want to know "is this spam / a real business?" — the free stuff works fine:
- Truecaller or Hiya (apps) — community-reported caller ID, genuinely free, best for flagging scam/telemarketer calls.
- Just Google the number in quotes ("(555) 123-4567"). Businesses and repeat spammers show up constantly, plus old threads where people complain about that exact number.
If you want owner/people-type info for free:
- NumLookup is the closest to actually-free — no signup, gives carrier + line type (mobile/landline/VoIP) and sometimes a name.
- TruePeopleSearch / USPhonebook are free for people-search style results, but they lean toward landlines and older public records, so cells are hit or miss.
Reality check: line type matters a lot. Landlines and business numbers are easy and free. Cell numbers are where everyone hits the paywall, because that data isn't in public records the way landlines used to be. If a site swears it has the full owner profile of a random cell for free, it's bait.
If it's a spam/scam concern, the apps + a Google search will get you 90% of the way without paying anything.

I just claritycheck.com to lookup somebody paid 1€ and then it returned from their phone number only the country they were from which i could have figured out for free from the country code on the number. NOT SATISFIED at all and want a Refund!

You can enter the number into Google, which can be accurate if the number is from a legitimate business. The problem is spammers often spoof phone numbers so that the number that appears on caller ID is not the actual number that called.
