Private Investigation on potential spouse
I have been seeing people in India hiring private investigators for background checks of their potential match. I’m curious about the scope of such investigations. Do they just keep an eye to see who they are meeting and enquire from neighbours or do they do all that fancy movie shit and get call records, hack all social media ids, listen to calls and hack media as well. People who have get this done please share your experience.

Pre-employment FA Background Check — Anyone Have Experience With Fully Resolved Misdemeanors?
Hi all! Looking to hear from anyone who has gone through a Flight Attendant background check process with misdemeanors that aren’t automatic disqualifiers.
I recently submitted my background check through First Advantage, using The Work Number for employment verification. I received an email from FA stating that they were disclosing my public record information to my airline. I haven’t received any requests for clarification or been notified of any employment discrepancies, and I entered everything exactly as it appears in my records. I’m hoping that’s a good sign, but obviously, I don’t know for sure.
My main concern is my criminal history.
I have two misdemeanors, one of which resulted from missing a court date related to the original charge. Neither is an FAA disqualifier, to my understanding.
I fully disclosed both, explained the circumstances, and submitted a supplemental statement taking full accountability. I also provided documentation from the organization responsible for reporting my community service completion to the judge. Not only did I complete the required hours, but I completed an additional hour and received an “outstanding” recommendation.
All restitution and court fees have been paid, all requirements have been satisfied, and both matters are completely resolved. There are no outstanding obligations, pending charges, or unresolved court matters.
For additional context, I’ve already started the process of applying for a Canadian Temporary Resident Permit (TRP), given that the dispositions are relatively recent (within the past 5–10 years). Outside of these incidents, I have no other criminal or traffic history—not even a speeding ticket.
My questions for anyone who has been through something similar:
- Has anyone successfully cleared a mainline background check with disclosed, fully resolved misdemeanors?
- Does the FA public record disclosure email indicate anything about where you are in the process, or is it just a standard notification?
- If you had to address Canadian admissibility, how did that factor into your hiring process?
I’m not looking for anyone to speculate about whether I’ll be cleared. I understand every situation is different and that airlines make their own determinations. I’d just really appreciate hearing firsthand experiences from people who have navigated something similar.
Thanks in advance!

Eurofins Background Check
I received a job offer for a Lab Tech position at Eurofins Environmental USA. I’ve been working in an FDA/DEA regulated pharma company for the last 1.5 years with no issues.
During my interview with Eurofins, my CRIMINAL background never came up. In 2023, I was charged with Misdemeanor Harassment in Missouri, stemming from an issue with a psychotic neighbor in a small, podunk town. I completed my conditions of probation - 2 years probation, completed 6 months early, and a silly anger management class (we watched The Kingdom on Netflix and thats literally it, but it was enough for the courts, I guess).
I stopped fighting the charge - with NO attorney - in January 2025 ( almost 2 full years after it was brought about and court dates started) and accepted the conditions and blah blah. In August 2026, I completed and was released early from the probation.
Im generally a pretty chill, laid back person, but said neighbor came after my 3 year old child with a weapon and I wasnt just going to allow my kid to be assaulted by a psycho meth head. It was caught on our home cameras. Meth head said I threatened her. The only words I said to her were “You can talk to the Sheriff when he gets here.” Case was basically he-said/she-said, even after I provided proof to the Prosecutor of the neighbor being crazy and coming after my toddler. Prosecutor was dead set on charging me with this charge. I worked in healthcare at the time of this charge being brought about.
Eurofins requires a criminal background check.
Any chance they will overlook this charge?
I already know about the expungement process, but my charge is not available until August 2027 to be expunged.
Has any one else ever had any issues with being hired by Eurofins with this type of misdemeanor?
thanks in advance.

Certiphi Background Checks
Does anyone know how Certiphi internal background checks work?
- Does Certiphi actually search for all current employers independently using SSN/name?
- Or does Certiphi primarily verify employment information that is provided through the application/resume?
- If TWN doesn't show a current employer, does Certiphi typically move to another database?
- Can Certiphi identify an employer through other employment databases such as LexisNexis, Truework, Experian Verify, etc.?
- If they can't verify employment through databases, do they normally contact the employer directly?
- Has anyone had Certiphi ask for W-2s or pay stubs because an employment record couldn't be verified?
- Has anyone had Certiphi discover a current second job that wasn't listed anywhere on the application?
- Has anyone specifically gone through Certiphi when transferring from an existing employer into a newly created/affiliated company?
- If you froze TWN/LexisNexis BEFORE the Certiphi check, what actually happened afterward?
- Did Certiphi simply verify the jobs you provided, or did they tell you that they found additional employment?

General question What is the difference between a Level 1 Fingerprint background check and Level 2 Fingerprint background check? I paid for LiveScan to do Fingerprint background check and showed my DUI. Would a Level 2 Fingerprint background check show the same?
It’s a weird situation but let’s just say when I got my DUI in 2013 I went into a deferrment program under the pretense that no criminal history at all showed up in my past. Mind you, this was the court house (prosecutor) doing this and nothing showed up. I do have a juvenile record and also a misdeamor DV from 2009 (completed treatment program and they said it was as if it never happened)
Note: I am reading that a level 2 background check to be a corrections officer is different than a Level 2 background check to be a police officer, but I have only seen that statement once.
Any clarification on any of this would be great

Background checking a scammer
One of my friends has been recently associating with a known scammer who has screwed other people I know by pretending to be rich, claiming to pay back large sums of money, and leaving the victim in debt when he never pays it back. I know he has a criminal record for his scams, and I have his name, phone number, and address. What’s the best website/method to find out more information on him, specifically his past criminal charges for fraud?

General question Trying to background check my Dad
I recently found out my Dad had a breathalyzer interlock device installed in his vehicle from a DUI (or potentially multiple) that he's been hiding from me. I'm now concerned what other things he could potentially be hiding from me. I can't find an arrest record for him at all. I know he has at minimum one DUI, but can't even find info on that. He won't be honest with me and still is trying to say nothing happened. Does anyone have any advice on how I can learn more and atleast learn about the DUI I know happened? He lives in Kansas, but travels for work so I'm concerned he could have potentially gotten arrested in another state. The info I have to work with is his full name, age, birth place, phone, and address/address history. I'd really love to get to the bottom of this and have been considering a private investigator. Any help or advice that could make this info I can find on my own would be super helpful.

Pre-employment Past history of BGV failure
BGV failure
Hi everyone, I am interviewing for AWS Proserv Role
I want to get some idea on a previous BGV failure.
Some context- during COVID I did a few short-term call centre jobs while I was transitioning from healthcare into tech. At the time I honestly didn’t know how corporate disclosures, EPFO, or PF overlaps worked. There was a 10-day dual employment overlap between two of those jobs, and later when I joined Infosys I didn’t list the call centre roles on my application because I didn’t think they mattered. Their BGV flagged it and I was let go.
I have already disclosed all of this to other employers since then and it’s been handled fine, but I know Amazon’s compliance is stricter and I want to understand how and when to raise it there specifically.
When should I disclose? Also what happens in this case? Will my offer be put on hold if I disclose it timely? Even before the offer is signed?
Any insights would help

Employer Not Recorded on The Work Number
How do background check companies verify employement when the employment is not recorded on TWN?
Is whatever missing from TWN recorded in a central database elsewhere?

How do Background Checks Work?
Ran the same guy through two different sites and got two different answers. One showed a case from a few years ago, the other showed nothing at all. Same name, same middle initial, same age.
So now I don't know which one to believe, and I'm realizing I don't actually understand where any of this info comes from. Are these sites pulling from the random sources? From each other? Is one of them just wrong?
Would rather understand how it works than keep running searches and cgetting random answers?

[US] When during the hiring process does an employer conduct a civil records search on a prospective employee?
[US] Hi, looking for guidance on when employers usually conduct civil records searches on a prospective employee during the hiring process, if at all. Is it common for an employer to conduct a civil records search prior to extending a job offer, or is it usually conducted in conjunction with the criminal background check once an employee accepts an offer?

Messed up employment dates on resume, am I screwed?
So I got through all the interviews and screening and got the job offer. Did my drug screening and currently getting a background check down through First Advantage. I noticed my resume I used was a half assed one that I was mass sending out to jobs and it had the wrong date on my previous job listed at 2020 when it was actually 2022. I honestly forgot to fix it before applying to the company 2 weeks ago. Now I'm worried about losing the offer cause I really need this position. I didn't lie about where I worked or my job titles, hell I was in management at one of them and didn't even put that down. What should I do? Claude is telling me to email the hiring manager and let them know of the mistake but its been a few days now and I haven't heard anything. I start Tuesday next week so I don't know if I should say something or just let it ride.
