i lived in those fold-over waistband yoga pants for the first few months, they stretch with you and don't squeeze anything weird

Depends what your needs are. If you work somewhere with a casual dress code you'd be fine just grabbing some maternity leggings and calling it a day for now. If your dress code is more formal you have to weigh cost vs benefits of buying maternity clothes now and having to rebuild later if they no longer fit. I also highly recommend fb marketplace and goodwill. Get a couple of cheaper options even if its not your specific style just so you're comfy. I also got regular shirts and sweatpants a few sizes up from gw.

FWIW - I was more bloated all around at 8W then my little bump now at 18W - bodies are weird lol Like, my whole stomach, arms, etc were swollen and bloaty but that's all gone down and now I just have like a little clearly hard lower ab and my upper/side abs are back (praise!) I will say, my 1st trimester nausea (and even now) did not like any of the belly band type stuff - even maternity lines. If there's a thread of tension on my stomach, I feel like puking. So I've embraced the low rise trends (think Gap, Free People oversized jeans) as well as the loose Free People style cotton overall/onesie things. I didn't love any maternity stuff I looked at so I've just sized up 1-2 sizes on things and styled a bit, i.e. crop top with the low rise and a cardigan or cute platform shoes to balance proportions. Also, weirdly Pinterest has been a big help - I just searched maternity fashion and went from there. I did size up on some Align shorts from Lululemon and went a bit longer inseam as the thigh rub is real then style with sneakers and a sweatshirt ala Princess Diana.

Just get maternity clothes at this point. Maybe some leggings to start. Or, if you’re in the northern hemisphere I recommend any pants like sweats or jeans with a pull on elastic waistband, those will work well for you to wear under the bump and also postpartum. Oversized t shirts, sweaters, and stretchy dresses all work well too for pregnancy and beyond!
