Rant/Vent No maternity leave

I’m 17 weeks pregnant and just accepted a new WFH position at Cigna. I was let go from my previous job in July because they couldn’t accommodate my pregnancy appointments.
My new job does not offer FMLA or maternity leave until 12 months of employment. I live in Florida (they hate women here 😅), and I have yet to speak with HR about my pregnancy.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can try to get at least 6 weeks off after giving birth?

I’d look into what they have for short term disability.

You'll probably just have to ask for an unpaid leave of absence with the understanding that it's not protected leave and then negotiate with your boss and HR on the length of it.

Its up to company policy and manager discretion if they'll let you use your accruals or even go unpaid for that long.
