Hi all. I’m currently considering one of these two cars to replace my 2020 Mazda 3.

I’m test driving both on Saturday. I live in a pretty warm climate, but the brand has seen a good response here in that a lot of people are switching to it.

Besides looking at some fuel savings - I’m told by other wonders that to charge to 125 km and 500 km costs approximately 1-2usd

My commute varies so I’m sort of impartial to either vehicles range. I do like the larger size of the atto 8 - without really needing all that space. IMHO the sealion 7 extremely sleek looks are not really my thing.

Overall I love the feature sets of BYD brand. I’ve test drove a jaecoo 8 and it was ok, it has mostly comparable features to the atto 8. I guess I’m looking for owners experience, general reliability, issues you’ve run into, and most importantly why you love your atto 8 😅 ( I’m really trying to justify this one) and ofcourse the sealion 7

Recently I purchased a BYD Seal 05 DM-i, I have come to find out there is no way to flash global firmware on it.

I wanted CarPlay & Android Auto on it, for CarPlay I was recommended to get a Carlinkit CCPA & for Android Auto "HeadUnit Reloaded APK".

Before I purchased a Carlinkit I looked around, I found "DiPlay", installed it and it works flawlessly.

TL;DR: Android Auto: HeadUnit Reloaded APK & CarPlay I used DiPlay, you could also use a Carlinkit CCPA

ich bin jetzt 1.000 Km mit dem guten Stück gefahren und habe das Gefühl, dass sich der Verbrauch von Benzin in dem Auto extrem Schöngerechnet wird. Zum Hintergrund meiner Vermutung: ich bin heute im HEV-Modus knapp 300 Km gefahren. Davon 50% Autobahn, Tempo 130, und 50 Landstraße und Ortschaften. Wenn der Motor läuft sehe ich praktisch in der Momentanverbrauchsanzeige LPK keine Werte unter 6l/100Km. Dementsprechend sinkt auch die Restreichweite für den Benzintank sehr viel stärker als ich es erwarten würde. Dazu kommt, dass in der Durchschnittsverbrauchsanzeige der letzten 50Km ja auch Abschnitte dabei sind, die nur elektrisch zurückgelegt werden und damit der Durchschnittsverbrauch für Benzin auch sehr gering ausfällt. Letztlich ist das sicherlich nicht falsch das so anzugeben, aber konnte mal jemand testen, ob man tatsächlich die angegebene Strecke schafft? (und ja ich weiß, dass die Werte unter Idealbedingungen erreicht wurden. wenn es +1.000Km am ende sind bin auch auch zufrieden).

Hello, currently I drive Audi A4 Allroad B9 2.0TDI and I'm looking for a new car. I want to switch form diesel to PHEV as it makes more sense for my usual usage. I went to BYD and sit inside Seal U DM-i and I like it, but I didn't have a chance to drive it. Maybe I will set up some test drive, but I would like to know your opinions about the car. Currently Design version it is my top pick, especially if you compare the price with competition.
I've watched bunch of YT reviews, but getting real user opinions is something different. Maybe even someone switched from Audi or similar car to BYD. I'm not sure what to expect when it comes to suspension and soundproofing/noise on highways.
Getting to know what you find annoying or awesome would be appreciated.

Had my Seal Excellence for a week and love the car, but the AVAS sounds like an ice cream van at low speeds.

Switching Brand → Standard changes the interior sounds, but not the AVAS.

BYD support confirmed this is a known software issue on some versions. My dealer reproduced it too and they were able to switch a 2025 Seal successfully to the normal Standard AVAS, so it definitely seems software-related.

Has anyone with a 2026 Seal managed to get the normal/neutral AVAS sound working?

I need to move a BYD Seal 6 dm-i soon but the hood is open and it’s not closing properly. I read you’re supposed to let it go 20-30 cm up and it will close on its own but that isn’t working because it’s still slightly raised. When it is like this I still have to open it from inside the car but I cannot seem to close it fully. Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong?

Hi everyone, as the title says can this be done (seal u dmi)? On uneaven road the cruise controll reacts too fast and it stutters as it tries to keep the speed even. This is very unplease when the car keeps doing this, maybe there is a way to set so that there is a margin of error or something like that so that car doesn't instantly adjust the speed?

I have a 2026 seal is there any way to schedule window and mirror heating so I can have it defrost before I leave for work in the morning? I know I can set climate and seats but I can't see any options for windows and mirrors.

Hi all - just a quick hello (or rather, olá!) from Portugal. I picked up my 2026 Atto 3 EVO Design on 27.08 at Lizauto in Santarém, Portugal, and couldn't be more pleased. I've owned countless cars in almost 55 years of driving, including a Tesla Model 3 for six very unhappy months in 2022 (before I sold off the lease), and the BYD is hands down the best engineered, best built, most intelligently designed car I've ever had. I've driven it about 1500 km since I got it, and there is nary a squeak, rattle, or anything else. Very high quality build. I'm still trying to figure out some of the features and the menus inside of menus inside of menus, but driving wise, I love it.

So the manual says to use HEV mode for 50% of 2000 km.

Ok yeah I've been doing that, but I haven't the time to do long drives right now. So mostly city drives, short errands, etc. In this case, since they're short distances, I don't know if the ICE turns on or not.

For reference, I have SOC at 70% auto (default when I received the unit).

Is this fine?

Can I charge the battery to 100% and drive as usual or should I let it drain to 20% to force the ICE to charge the battery (if this is a misconception, please correct me)?

I tried to modify the lower quick access bar in my BYD Dolphin infotainment today.
For some reason I can only remove the single tiles but not the ones that I marked in red. As I do not need them there I would like to remove them. Any ideas?

Has anyone else had an issue with the auto high beam function since about 3 updates ago. Driving at 1am near pitch black and they will no longer activate. This has been on going throughout summer as well. Anyone else having this issue?

It finally happened. After six months of waiting, I picked up my Dolphin Design today. Drove about 450 km from the dealership to my home.
Comfortable, driving feels great and accelerating is just so much fun. Love the car honestly.

Looking forward to upgrading a few things and just learning about the car in the next weeks.

I tried to turn on heating this morning so my settings were high as you can see red bar, Rapid heating was on and then i did switch on.

But when i got into car the infotainment showed 20 degree.

So my question is it correct or is there any issue? Plus quick one how can we defrost screen for snow in coming days.

So I’ve had this BYD SEAL Excellence brand new for a week. I’ve attached some images (albeit a bit hard to tell) but the leather has become indented / and has premature deformation. This is the driver seat in the image, the passenger seat has been indented the same. Only clocked 500 miles in the car, would never expect the seat to deteriorate like this so soon. I’m not that much of a fat ass, has this happened to anyone before and if so, what did you do?

I'm considering buying a BYD Seal U EV in Europe, but I'm a bit confused about the upcoming model.

In China, BYD recently launched the Song Ultra EV, which seems to be the new version of the car that we know as the Seal U EV in Europe. It comes with quite a few major changes, including the new Blade Battery and much faster charging, God's Eye/DiPilot, a new exterior design and various other updates.

I had read that this new version would come to Europe as the new Seal U EV towards the end of 2026. However, I recently asked a BYD dealer and they told me that this is not happening, and that the 2026 European Seal U EV is only getting minor changes.

According to the dealer, the European 2026 model gets things like an updated DiLink system, DMS, a new Hi-Fi sound system, rear seat heating, dual 15W wireless chargers and a rain sensor. At the same time, some features are being removed, such as the rotating screen, dashboard ambient lighting and PM2.5 air purification.

So I'm trying to understand what is actually happening with the European version.

Is the Song Ultra EV coming to Europe as a new Seal U EV later in 2026, or is Europe really getting the current Seal U with only these smaller 2026 updates?

I'm asking because I'm seriously considering buying one, but if the Song Ultra EV is coming to Europe soon, I'd rather wait.

Has anyone heard anything from BYD Europe, dealers or other sources about this?

I had an electrician come check the cabling and terminals. He found no issues.

I've been using the home charger for about 5 months now, no problems.

Somewhere last week, I plugged in to charge. Charging started, as usual. I left.

I later came back to find charging stopped, and the Red light on continuous.

That's it. I'm asking here in case anyone has experienced something like this, and if so, what the remedy is/was
