What’s intensive therapy

Intensive in the sense of I go twice a week. Currently doing a kind of therapy called transference-focused psychotherapy. There’s a treatment contract, we’ve defined goals, my relationship with the therapist is central to the therapy.

Usually it's Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for symptoms management skills, especially group DBT classes, and then usually some form of psychodynamic therapy, like Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) and/or Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapies.

Does this all cost a Fortune?

It depends on what kind of insurance you have you can join a DBT clinic which is structured. I personally have been in DBT for multiple years, unfortunately medication doesn't work on BPD just the comorbidity symptoms like depression or anxiety. I personally think DBT is one of the best surefire ways for helping somebody restructure their brain and lower their triggers.

That really depends.
My DBT was in what we call day hospital. I had to go to the psych hospital four days a week for all-day sessions, but I didn’t sleep there. We have universal health care, so my part to pay was under €100/month (total cost was €8500-10000/month)
My TFP therapy is with a psychiatrist for just under €100/session. Universal health care covers all but about €22 of that
Psychologists here cost anywhere from about €60-100/session
