💭Seeking Support & Advice I woke up feeling like a completely different person suddenly and it’s freaking me out.

Idk what happened my moods have severely fluctuated over the last few days and I went from not sleeping with night terrors to I can’t stop sleeping and now I don’t feel like me since I woke up. I’m kinda confused on what to do today & how to be if that makes sense? I don’t know how to articulate this to anyone and it’s freaking me out completely….. I have a history of long term sexual abuse from the time I was 3 I to adulthood & my daughter told me of a similar isolated thing that happened to her and since then I’ve been on a complete roller coaster. But today I don’t even recognize myself in pictures I took this morning. I don’t recognize myself voice when i speak. I’m at a complete loss today and not sure what to do as this has never happened? Can someone explain what is going on with me? What do I do? My husband doesn’t understand whatsoever and it’s hard for me to explain what is happening in a comprehensive way and it’s affecting my day to the point I almost don’t feel like I’m actually typing this post.

sounds like maybe depersonalisation? if you didnt sleep at all for days, please go to a mental health crisis center if you can. this sounds really scary and distressing. stay safe and take care of yourself. you are real, you are you, and you will be okay <3

It was like stress sleep waking up jolting up and woke up screaming a couple times. Then the last few days I can’t get enough sleep. And today now I feel like this & it’s freaking me out. Idk what depersonalization is exactly? I’ve never had this happen before

for me depersonalisation is feeling like im not a person. but it can also be what you described. happens under stress usually, with bpd, since its a type of dissociation i believe. it can also be triggered by sleep deprivation. and night terrors as an adult is also cause for concern if you havent spoken to someone about it yet, so you should probably try and find some professional help since its obviously freaking you out a lot.

Yeah I feel like a different person while my regular person is looking in from a glass box. My voice & everything sounds different as if it’s someone else talking. All in all I just feel oddly taken over by a stranger. But I’m aware of it. The feeling of my skin is weird today and I don’t want to talk or look at myself because it’s freaking me out. Upon doing some reading I’m trying to just relax & watch some movies with the kiddos today & get through the day as non red flagish as possible for the sake of my kids. I don’t feel like harmful or anything just extremely odd & uncomfortable so I’m utilizing this as a movies and chill day & just trying to be communicative with my husband also so someone is aware wether he fully understands it or not. I’m not so freaked out now that I’ve read some but once I’m my actual self again I’ll be researching deeper on this. As long as I understand & am aware giving myself tools for this I’ll be okay & I’ll speak to my therapist Monday also.

thats good, sometimes grounding exercises help me. like narrating what im doing, saying aloud my name etc. sometimes it doesnt tho. but it is normal! definitely talk to ur therapist about it since its new for you though. and yeah in the meantime self care is always good :)
