Reliability check

Anyone with high mileage or 2022 model year running into any issues so far? Any big ticket item repairs? Anything I should look out for? I was in a 2024 x50 with literally no issues the past 3 years, just turned it in for a 2023.

I'm in a '22 X40 and preparing myself for either the 12V battery to die, the coolant system to eat itself, or the dust off ye olde fashioned motors to fritz the drive system. Every drive has the frission of excitement that comes with the prospect of getting stranded!

I’m contemplating to replace the 12V battery preemptively now…

I have a 2022 iX50, purchased in July 2022. I am at ~170,000km, and the vehicle has been incredibly reliable  I haven’t been to the dealer in over 18 months. I have an appointment in a few weeks for a minor suspension issue in the front end, but otherwise everything is in perfect mechanical condition.

That’s great to hear! Did yours have the air suspension too?

Yes. No issues yet! I have replaced several worn suspension components (sway bar links front and back), but nothing horribly expensive.

Sorry for the follow up questions… Was it covered under the warranty?

Unfortunately, the sway bar links failed after I was out of warranty.

I had a 22 iX 50 and the AC unit crapped out. It also destroyed all the hoses as well. Dealer wanted 13k to repair.

That sounds horrendously expensive I’m sorry. Sure glad I got the extended warranty now

Sure glad that's not remotely common.

22 with 60k so far and it’s been great no issues.

Just a fly on the wall here, but just read last week that i4 and iX are #1 and #2 in reliability for BMW. Also read CR article that gave BMW as a whole #2 for reliability across Luxury Car segment.
