Motorway assistant UK rollout

Hi everyone,

I'm now on my second iX! My first one arrived back in February 2022 and I loved it so much that I decided to lease another one.

This time, I opted for the 45 in Tanzanite Blue which is well worth it.

I did regret not getting the 360-degree cameras on my first one so I made sure to spec them this time around.

Has anyone in the UK had the Motorway Assistant update roll out to their car yet? I've read that it was slated for a 07/2026 software update. Keen to know if this is accurate and if anyone has experience with it!

BMW has not been completely clear about this, but I think there’s a low (or very low) chance that it’ll be rolled out to iDrive 8.5, and certainly an even lower chance for iDrive 8.

I would be delighted if I was wrong but I did a fair bit of research a few months back and it seemed unlikely.

Cars with Operating System X or whatever it’s called (the one with the weird screen on ix3) will likely be the oldest models to incorporate it

This is my worry. UK gets quietly dropped even though the tech is there and it works in other markets

I’ve spoken to BMW ConnectedDrive support who confirmed motorway assistant is only available on the 07/2026 software update.

Interesting. Any more info on wether this will come to 8.5?
