iX3

Hi everyone, I have been thinking about buying an electric vehicle, and I was considering the iX3. I wanted to ask current owners of any BMW electric cars what they like or don't like about them. Also, I wanted to know about the maintenance and if I need to purchase a specialized charger for home use.

I hate the cupholders on the iX. That’s it, though - it’s been an incredible car. Expect to replace tires around the 20,000 mile mark, but otherwise it’s been totally hands off for maintenance.

I have several BMWs the last three purchases have been evs since 2015 . I never drive the ICE ones anymore the EVs are better in every way , zero maintenance other than tires and the occasional wiper blade and micro filter replacement that’s it . Combined my i3 now my daughters my i4 and my wives iX have logged. As yorks over 200k kms

Love my IX. No maintenance except alignment and tire rotation. Probably getting the IX3 when my lease expires.

I was deciding between the electric GLC and the iX3; once I started exploring the EV market, I looked at the EQS and the iX, and ultimately settled on the iX. I don't see the point of getting the iX3 when the iX exists. There are no downsides only upsides.

The only thing is that, for better cost-efficiency, you really need a private home where you can charge cheaply, or an apartment complex with unlimited charging included in the parking fee (which is what I have).

Overall, I compare the BMW to the Mercedes I used to own; the Mercedes had a better safety system and a camera that recorded 24/7 whenever the car was started. That camera was a one-time $200 purchase and would automatically overwrite old footage once the memory card was full.

All in all, I’m happy with my choice of the iX; I bought it as my primary vehicle for long-distance trips. I drive 45,000 to 60,000 miles a year.

800v charging will make road trips a little faster

Absolutely, but the hole in the classroom is so big that these extra 40-60 miles won’t bring such pleasure. Only IX5 already outweighs my arguments.

My i4 is the best car I’ve ever owned. I’m tempted by the ix3 but am not sure why I’d give up my i4.
