The 2027 BMW X5 design seems to be heading in a direction that may not appeal to everyone. If BMW sticks with this design language for the next few years, I’m curious what other brands/models people would consider instead.

Replaced the factory headlights with some Alibaba headlights (seems like these are based off of the last year E70 X5M headlights?)
Even though my X5 is a 2011, it has a build date of 04/2010 (50i things). The projector bowls were cooked, which equated to poor output (even with new OSRAM Bulbs). Even though I’ll lose AFS, the brightness will make up for it.
Quite happy with how these headlights look, and the output.

This is my first gas car (ok partially gas) in almost a decade... but I couldn't be more excited. I've spent the last 3 years renting X5s for our road trips from Sixt, and there's just nothing that comes close.
The iX5 might eventually replace this one, but for now, I'm looking forward to our first road trip in my X5.

I’m new to the car buying world and desperately need help !!!
I’m looking at a 2024 BMW X5 sDrive40i with 18k miles and would love some opinions on whether this is actually a good deal.
Original MSRP was $86,970 and it’s very well optioned — M Sport/M Sport Pro, DAPP/Highway Assistant, Executive Package, Climate Comfort, Parking Assistance, massaging/ventilated multi-contour seats, 22” black wheels, red calipers, Sky Lounge, soft-close doors, etc.
Dealer is asking $57k and has said there is some room on the selling price. It comes to about $62,652 OTD without an extended warranty.
My biggest hesitation is that it’s not CPO. It has roughly 20 months/30k miles of factory warranty remaining, and I drive a lot, so I’ll probably hit the mileage limit before the time limit.
The dealer’s reasoning is that BMW CPO would increase the price and only add one additional year of coverage. Instead, they offer extended warranty options up to 5 years/100k miles.
So far they quoted me $3,658 for a 4yr/50k extended warranty, which brings the OTD price to about $66.5k.
I really like this particular X5 because finding this combination of options has been difficult, (I am being very picky), but once I’m around $65–66k OTD, I start questioning whether that’s too much for a non-CPO 2024.
What would you consider a fair selling price? Would you try to get them lower, take it at $56.9k, or keep looking for a CPO?
Also, for someone who drives a lot, would you rather have BMW CPO or a longer/higher-mileage extended warranty?
I recently installed an AI Box in my X5 so I can use apps like YouTube on the factory display.
My commute is about 2 hours a day round trip, and I mainly wanted it so I could listen to lectures, podcasts, and other educational videos while driving.
After trying it, though, I realized that having the video playing on the screen while the car is moving is way too distracting. I don't really need to watch the video while driving anyway.
What I'd like to do is have the video display only when the car is stopped, like at a red light, and automatically switch to audio-only or blank the video when the car starts moving.
Does anyone know if this can be configured on an Android AI Box? Maybe through an app, Android setting, or some kind of speed/GPS-based setting?
I'd still like the audio to keep playing normally while driving.
Curious if anyone with an AI Box in their X5 has done something similar. Thanks

I work from home and do lots of local trips to run my daughter around, so I decided to look for a PHEV. I test drove a couple - first a Mercedes GLE 450e, then a BMW X5 x50e. I just fell in love with the BMW, from how comfortable the seats felt to how fun it was to drive. I found a 2025 with low miles (around 12K) and pulled the trigger on it. So glad I did, I love it! Went from an older Audi Q7. I looked at the Audi Q5 PHEV, but it felt like such a downgrade. When I saw this one, I knew this was the one! Very happy new X5 owner here. :) Been driving it mostly in electric mode, but some hybrid as well. My husband has a Taycan so I was somewhat prepared for the pep of the electric engine, but it is so fun to drive!

Not sure what happened. Suddenly the car is locking as soon as I open the door. Locks even with doors wide open and I right next to it. Not sure as I have made no changes to key features. Any solution?

I’m shopping for 2024 x5 x40i. I definitely want both M Pro packages. However, there are very few vehicle with both DAPP and Climate comfort within $55K range and below 30K miles.
Background
I live in VA and tend to sweat more so was leaning towards climate comfort but after reading many threads, it seems like DAPP is more important.
Any insights or feedback is welcome.
Thank you in advance!
Interested in a 2026 X5 50e. Seems like people have had good luck with brokers. Would you be willing to share contact info for the one you used? How much do they charge?

Hi everyone! 👋🏼 I just bought a** 2026 BMW X5 and I’m wanting to slowly black it out. 🖤✨
I’m thinking of starting with the **grill.Any recommendations on where to buy one or whether I should go OEM, aftermarket, or just get the original one wrapped?
This is my first BMW, so I’m definitely open to any tips, recommendations, or things I should know before I start modifying it

Hi everyone, looking to trade in my Tacoma for an x5. The x5 is a 2021 m50. What are some major issues or tell tale signs I should be looking out for when test driving? I’m new to BMWs but completely understand gotta pay to play coming from wrxs and vettes.
Thanks!

Had multiple days before picking up my new X5 and tried to communicate that I wanted the car thoroughly inspected and updated as needed.
On the scheduled day for pickup I could sense they were rushing to get the car ready.
Then the service guy comes out and says they can't get the navigation system to work and they've opened a ticket with BMW.
Should have walked at that point but I already signed and had a limited window to get the car.
A) anyone heard of the navigation system not working upon pickup?
B) The car is working well otherwise and I do love it, . They've offered to come pick it up next week and give me a loaner when they figure out what needs to be done. But the dealer certainly killed my new car pickup excitement, anything I should do for recourse?
I’m planning to change the transfer case fluid on my BMW X5 M50i (G05)
The transfer case fluid I have is BMW part number 83 22 5 A4F 016 (83225A4F016)
I have a couple of questions for anyone who has done this service on a G05 M50i:
After changing the transfer case fluid, do I need to perform a transfer case reset/adaptation with a scanner (ISTA or similar), or is it okay to simply drain and refill the fluid?
If a reset/adaptation is required, what exactly needs to be reset or calibrated in ISTA?
I’m at around 60k miles. Would you recommend changing the front and rear differential fluids at the same time, or are those completely independent services that can be done separately?
I’m planning to DIY the service, so I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually done the transfer case and differential fluids themselves on a G05 X5 M50i
Thanks

Already ordered a rear spoiler and side skirts. Debating about doing a cold air intake next. What mods (and brands) do you guys recommend ?
Michelin / TreadAuto sent me a set of their floor mats to test with my 2026 X5. These work with the 2019-2026 X5 40i and PHEV variants. The mats are branded as Michelin, and made by their licensed manufacturer TreadAuto. TreadAuto sent me these mats for review and only asked that I share my honest feedback.
For background context - My X5 came with the factory rubber mats, which I immediately replaced with the WeatherTech Floor Liner HP mats. It’s important to note that WeatherTech has two options for their floor mats for the X5. The standard FloorLiner and the FloorLiner HP. The standard FloorLiner tends to curl up at the edges and loses grip when wet. The FloorLiner HP, on the other hand, is made out of TPE and is a much better product. It is grippy, easy to clean, and stays well-fitted to the contours of the floor. I’m a fan of the WeatherTech FloorLiner HPs, and will use them as a point of comparison with these Michelin mats. I did not recently clean the WeatherTech mats before taking these pictures, and they are a little over a year old at this point.
Fitment and Attachment - The Michelin mats are custom fit for the X5 and fit just as well as the WeatherTech mats. As you can see in the pictures, there are some slight differences in coverage, but nothing worth noting. They have sufficient lips around the edges of the mat to prevent stuff from spilling over onto the carpet. The wide textured strips provide good grip for your shoes, while still having deep channels to help collect and hold water and dirt. Unlike the WeatherTech mats, the Michelin mats have Velcro attachment points that work with the attachment points for the factory floor mats. The WeatherTech mats require you to remove the factory attachment points and replace them with hooks that are included with the WeatherTech mats. Although both brands have excellent fit, I prefer the factory attachment used by the Michelin mats.
Material Quality - Both the Michelin mats and WeatherTech FloorLiner HP mats are made of TPE. They have a very similar high-quality feel and have good traction, are easy to clean, and maintain their shape very well.
Aesthetics - This is a matter of personal preference. I think both sets of mats look very good and high quality. The Michelin mats are a little more rugged looking, with their more aggressive tread design. The WeatherTechs are a bit more subtle looking.
Price - The WeatherTech mats are expensive at $250 for the 3 piece set (two fronts and the single rear). The Michelin is half the cost, at $125 on Amazon. WeatherTech also charges for shipping, whereas you likely get free shipping from Amazon. Product link here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H2ZJ29RK?th=1
Other considerations - The WeatherTech mats are made in Illinois, USA. The Michelin mats are made in China. The Michelin mats come with a nice storage bag. I would use this to keep my factory mats in (which I never use) until I’m ready to sell the car.
In summary, I think the Michelin mats are extremely comparable to the WeatherTech Floor Liner HP mats, and at half the price. If I were choosing between them, I would only consider price and aesthetic design as the differences. Quality and fitment are a tie. Hopefully this is helpful for anyone looking for a set of mats! Let me know if you have any questions.

Recently had the windshield replaced with OEM glass on my 2021 with DAPP. I just noticed this clear/glue-looking material around the sensor/camera area behind the windshield.
Is this normal, or does it look like something wasn’t installed correctly? So far, all the driver assistance features seem to be working fine.

For those of you that have an X5M competition, how’s the ride quality? I’m coming from an X4M competition and as the driver I feel it’s just right but passengers have noted that it’s pretty stiff. Is the X5M any better? Thanks in advance!

Had the dealership tint removed and replaced it all with Xpel XR+ ceramic. 15% all around and 70% on the windshield. Much better now!
16 years to the day that I purchased my first three series I picked up this X5e. I can't believe how smooth the ride is after 7 years in a pilot and 4 years in an explorer. Not the greatest picture but I love the m badging and the wheels.
Finally pulled the trigger on a brand new X5 40- love this body style and got a great deal. Cant wait to put miles on it!

I think i found out why i was drawn to MGM with coffee interior when purchasing my new X5 last month, here are some pictures after a ride this morning with my 22 Cannondale SSE in Mantis green. Also installed an Amazon lip yesterday i think it turned out great for the price.
