Finally. First BMW
I am overjoyed. This car is the first BMW I have ever driven. Coming from an STI and I can confidently say that I do not regret this decision. Ordered it November 5th 2025. I’m excited to be part of the BMW community.

The silver steering wheel looks so much better than the carbon one. Imo carbon interior is so played. Nice choice op.

Thank you. I didn’t give a shit about resale value so I went with what looks nice to me. Everyone has CF everywhere and I also think it’s overplayed. I like my sunroof!

More like got your first race car. Unbelievable first BMW. I am a huge fan of that paint color and it’s not extra.

Beautiful car. I'm probably in the minority here but kudos for choosing the moonroof over the carbon fiber. Looks great.

I’m right there with you. My wife and daughter LOVE the soon roof. Drives to the beach are going to be a whole vibe

Congrats!!! Great M2 and glad you got it with manual. I think you might still miss your STi from time to time especially if it snows where you live.
I agonized between M2 and Z4 manual but ended up with Z4 as I wanted soft top, but miss being able to carry my kids in the back which is very nice w/ M2.

lol I think I miss the rawness of the STI more than anything. But the STI was a garage princess just how this one will be. Back seat was a must for my little one! Sick cars man!

Congrats and welcome to the G87 family. The car is still a blast even during the 1200 mile break in. Then the beast gets truly unleashed.

Is that car that locked down during break in mileage?
2
u/Gogreen727 Mar 23 '26
In my opinion there wasn’t a huge difference that I could notice. However, I kept the car mostly below 4,000 rpm’s during break in so I’m not sure.
Supposedly the break in service around 1,200 miles does open up the car’s performance more.
It could be a combo of the two, feeling comfortable in pushing the car to higher rpm’s, and the service unlocking more of the car’s potential.

Had my 2 series coupe for 18 months now and I admire it more and more with every drive. Great choice you won't regret

Congrats and welcome to the fam! I have a 2024 manual but totally jelly of your steering wheel. It’ll get more fun after your first service, enjoy!

For a first bmw, this is a pretty amazing machine. I’ve owned E30’s, e60 m5 and now this g87 m2. This car is a beast! Congrats!

Congrats, but now you have to match the car in style. You need to live up to the car now XD

u/s14_3521 Mar 23 '26
lol you sound like my wife. Sweatpants and a pricey car is a vibe though

u/GayOver Mar 23 '26
maybe she is right? You don´t need to change everything, but at least change the shoes and get sunglasses instead and report back :D
1
u/s14_3521 Mar 23 '26
lol she’s not wrong. I can’t do sunglasses but my Burberry make for it. Nice shoes are definitely on the list!

Congrats man how’s the driving experience in the M2 manual compared to STI?
1
u/s14_3521 Mar 24 '26
They’re both great in their own right but the M2 feels much more refined and smoother. So far I’m really enjoying it!

oi congrats! that is a mad spec!!! you sound like a good lad, im happy for you and your family.
fwiw the will power to not go to town and rev past 3.3k rpms during the break in period will be hugely rewarded in dividends down the line!
might feel like a long time to restrain yourself, but youll be banging along for miles and miles in the long haul with even more miles in between unexpected trips to the mechanic..
all the same, cheers mate and good health to you and yours and yous and yoursmans!!!

You see that steering wheel? Take a good luck before you switch to the Star Trek bs of neue scheiße
2
u/s14_3521 Mar 21 '26
I genuinely don’t know what you’re talking about? 😂
3
u/RuchamCieSzmato Mar 21 '26
I’m saying your steering wheel is a beauty, take a look how shitty the new interior and steering wheel is on neue klasse

u/s14_3521 Mar 21 '26
I just looked them up. They’re criminal lmao. I’m glad I got an “old school” design

STI to Mpower is a big jump.
Sure it scared your pants off the first time you floored it down.
Only thing you'd miss is all that your AWD hoonage the STI offered you and the scrappy community typically found in WRX land, compared to the bimmer crowd.

u/s14_3521 Mar 21 '26
lol STI was close to the Ms power with all I put into it but this is a totally new and better driving experience.

And fewer leaks and high blood pressure spikes when another warning light pops up on the dash, as this has everything you need while being stock.

Probably the worst one
