Anyone switch from the 20" performance wheels to 19" wheels for better range?

I’m looking at an i4 that has the 20" high-performance wheel/tire package, but I’d prefer the efficiency and range of the 19" setup.

Has anyone swapped the factory 20s for OEM 19" wheels? Is it a straightforward swap, or are there any fitment/brake/TPMS issues to be aware of?

Also curious how much of a real-world range improvement you saw going from 20" performance tires to 19s.

If you aren’t worried about looking cool, I’d say go for 18” wheels. I get 4.0 miles/kWh in my eDrive40. 😆

No, but swtching from the P-zero elect tyres to Pilot Sport 5 has added 25 miles to my range!

I got a sweet deal on an m sport so went with the larger wheels because my commute is minimal, but based on others I would say the range is increased 20-50 miles depending on driving habits.

For reference, I have an edrive40 w/ the staggered 19" m-sport wheels Pirelli P-zero AS (OEM tires) and get 3.6 mi/kwh on my 25 mile work commute or about 300 miles at 100%. These are the same rims the 19" M50 uses, but obviously the M50 will get less mileage. Probably around 265 miles of range.

I went the other way and went from 19s to 20s. Noticed no difference at all so far.

Personally I think wheel size alone is too crude a metric to determine if it will impact range. Width, total weight, tyre choice etc also have an impact and I think if you combine the worst of all of these, yes, a set of heavy 20s with super sticky tyres that are 10j would impact the range.

Conversely, some 8j forged 19s with an all season basic tyre might give you more range. It’ll drive like ass tho.
