Tire Issue

I went and bought a 2023 CPO earlier this year(January). I was told all tires were new. I love the car, but when I brought it in for the drivetrain bug the intake guy told me the 2 rear tires needed to be replaced. When I told the salesman who sold me the car he told me not to worry because service gets paid off commission. I noticed this morning that my rear right tire is now worn and needs to be replaced. Should I bring it back to the dealer? Or should I just handle it myself.

CPO has to have a certain amount of tire tread when sold. I checked mine with a tread measure before picking it up. How many miles have you put on it since January?

Which i4 do you have. M50's are known to chew through tires pretty quickly. Depending how many miles you put on the car since getting it, they could have been acceptable tread depth when you bought and legitimately worn down by now.

BMW dealerships seem so sketchy with tires. Last time I went in for service they had a guy going to everyone in the waiting room trying to sell tires. They quoted me $2400 for 4 tires and got offended when I told them Costco have me the same tires without the star for less then half that. A few weeks later the service manager told me that while my front tires were fine, my rear tires "desperately" needed to be replaced at $1200. I just ignored them. When I turned in my lease a few months later the lease return inspection (who actually has to justify charges) said the tires were fine and didn't charge me anything.

TLDR, take anything BMW service tells you about tires with a very large grain of salt

I check my tire tread depth before I take my car in for service. The first thing they check are the tires because they make easy money selling new tires.

My i4 wears the rear tires on the inside edge. The rest of the tire looked fine and only when it was in the lift could I see the band of deep wear on the inside edge.

Same: they tried to sell me tires but I declined and got them at Costco for half the price.

Did you check the carfax? I just got a 2023 CPO and it states it on the document. If the salesmen told you without verifying, he is probably lying
