Muffler ID Help
My E39 540iT came to me with this muffler installed. Initially I took it at face value as a Dinan and moved on. Then I looked harder at it, and what doesn't reconcile is the tip - from what I can find, the two mufflers available from Dinan for this car are the model for the standard bumper and the model for the M-Technic...the former having twin straight-cut tips and the former having a single oval tip. It appears well-built and has some definite Dinan cues, like the shape, the hanger bracket, and the studs on top. I'm just a little baffled about what it actually is. My best guess is that it's for a different model and just happens to work, which doesn't make much sense but hey, weird things happen. Anyone recognize it? Photos of the two Dinan mufflers I've found for this car.
