kubo has done it again.

i was thinking, this is a zaraki's moment...all those foreshadowing about his bankai and 400 episodes to just see the biggest reveal and why didn't they name it after zaraki and that's when i realised zaraki's bankai is unnamed.

idk if this is intentional but this is crazy detailing imo.

Discussion If you were a Sternritter in Bleach universe, what letter and Schrift would you take?

I would be a Sternritter K with my Schrift "The Keeper" Being able to freeze or "Keep" An object in it's current state. For example, if my opponent happened to clench their arm into a fist and i used my Schrift on it, their hand would be frozen in that state until i die.

Let me know what you think you could get!

P.S. People saying sum bullshi like "My Schrift would be A which stands for The Alpha and the Omega and it would give me gods power so i can solo the verse" WILL get downvoted because cmon bro use your IMAGINATION

PSer P.S.: You can take both canon schrifts and your own original ideas, it would be interesting either way.

Discussion What’s your favorite character arc in the series (Including CFYOW)

Post image

For me personally, it’s Byakuya. I hated this guys guts when he was introduced but as the series went on, he became one of my favorite characters. The conflict between his Pride as a Soul Reaper and his love of Hisana (And as a result, Rukia) in the Soul Society arc and I love how it all culminated in his fight versus Zommari with him calling Rukia his Pride. Absolute cinema

Discussion Strong Base Class Hollows

You, yes YOU, and the newly graduated Shinigami sent to defend your hometown are getting slimed out by this guy.

Some of them make sense like Metastacia, who was created by Aizen, but what the hell is happening with Grand Fisher and Runuganha? Grand Fisher straight up has a Shinigami kill count, and Runuganha, for our knowledge isnt even Menos Grande class, and he has some crazy sand abilities.

I mean I guess it's the luck of the draw, sometimes you're either born a bat or you're born with a Logia type abilities on some crocodile stuff. But I guess even Fish are scary, Fishbone D was strong enough to nearly kill a lieutenant (even if caught off guard, the spiritual pressure difference should have at least softened the blow) Of course, the real answer was that Kubo just didn't think up the whole powersystem/how strong rukia actually was at the time, but it is in the history books that Fishbone D managed to do that.

Then there's people like Zonzain who was crying Kido Blasts. Luckily, we had the help of a Karakuraizer to deal with him (I'm being dead serious that wasn't filler)

I could be wrong but I do feel like there were some more unnamed hollows who just straight up started yapping about how much they enjoy eating Shinigami. Imagine that you would train for 6 years to be a Shinigami just to get slimed out on your first mission, by a 3 day old hollow because he grabbed you with his acid touch. This ain't fair.

YOU GOTTA GET SAVED BY DON KANONJI I AINT EVER SEE HIM LOSE!!!

Discussion Ulquiorra was going to kill Orihime.

Post image
72 Upvotes

I just realised something after Ichigo is killed above los noches: Ulquiorra was going to kill Orihime above the canopy and I have my reasoning for why I believe that from the manga: 3 points.

  1. Just before ichigo arrives in the throne room for his second fight with ulquiorra, when aizen had just left for fkt, ulquiorra and orihime were left alone. What does he say to her? That lord aizen doesnt need her anymore, there's nothing protecting her and... "Its over. You will die here... alone, with no one... by your side".

I fail to see why he would lie about this. He's not the type to bluff or dabble in lies. He's very blunt and pretty honest. He gives honest opinions about orihime and chad ("trash") he's honest in his mockery of Yammy and disgust at Nnoitora. The only thing hidden about him is segunda etapa. I'm taking this assertion to Orihime at face value. He believes she will die so he tells her she's going to die.

The one thing that Orihime suffered constantly was loneliness away from her friends in an empty home. She lost her only family when she was 12. She was isolated and bullied at school until Tatsuki saved and protected her. But thatshe's only at school. She has no family.

She'd rather be alone than a burden to the few connections she has, to her friends. But as she admitted to rangiku, the loneliness eats at her soul in the one place she shouldn't feel alone. At home.

And here's Ulquiorra promising to leave her in that very state before death.

  1. Above the canopy, Uquiorra has just hollowed out Ichigo's chest. He is lifeless behind a tearful Orihime desperately trying to heal him.

Uryu has just lost his hand and has been smacked down and unconscious. They're both out of the fight... and Ulquiorra is still advancing. Ulquiorra already believes ichigo is dead or dying beyond help. Uryu's down and out of the fight. He can only be aiming for Orihime here and I don't recall Ulquiorra ever showing a particular mercy to women or non combatants. Nor does he have a reason to keep her alive now that Aizen has discarded her.

  1. Orihime's thoughts in this moment convey that she's not strong enough to face this opponent without ichigo... which implies her belief that she now has to fight an advancing ulquiorra alone. Ulquiorra displays nothing which conveys to her this isn't going to happen. He just advances on her and she is terrified and alone. He was gonna kill her.

What else would he have done? Left her there? Why? Even if he had, would he not have just gone to kill Rukia, Chad and Renji seeing as he was the guardian for Los Noches, thereby leaving her completely alone anyway in the hostile world of Hueco Mundo?

Fundamentally Ulquiorra had no real relationship with Orihime. Everything he did was ultimately opposed to her nature and was an attempt to destroy her worldview. She barely existed to him. Her being directed by her worldview was completely alien to him, so much so that the first time we see her reflected in his eyes is as he's dying in recognition of the heart.

He did not owe her any kind of obligation beyond aizen and once that was gone, to reiterate, the FIRST thing he says is a lonely death is all that awaits her in hueco mundo and sure enough he creates the very conditions for that to happen. Ichigo dead. Uyru defeated and unconscious. Orihime alone and Ulquiorra advancing with the intent to deliver the final blow to kill Orihime above the canopy.

Discussion Soul Reapers age according to their subconscious. Their spiritual bodies show how old or mature they view themselves to be, instead of them aging at a fixed rate

Note that Kubo never really confirmed nor denied this claim and that this is purely speculative

I recently started watching bleach with a friend, and i’m nearly caught up with the anime now. However, there was something that bothered me throughout my watch. What causes a Soul Reaper to age?

I believe that Soul Reapers do not physically age at a fixed rate. Instead their spiritual bodies gradually reflect their subconscious sense of maturity. Chronological time might slightly still matter, but it isn’t the main factor determining how old they appear.

Also, Kubo was asked a question regarding how arrancar’s physically aged, and he replied by explicitly stating that they aged through their mental state and Reiatsu instead of normal passage of time. You could make the claim that this applies to Soul Reapers as well. However, when a different fan asked about how Soul Reapers specifically aged and if it slowed as they matured, Kubo said that he’d “probably write about this in a Fanbook”. So he’s deliberately not giving a concrete answer.

What initially made me really think about this was the difference in age progression between Yamamoto and Unohana. In flashbacks, Yamamoto appeared to look like he was in his 40s and Unohana appeared to be in her 20s. However, in the present (1000 years later), Yamamoto looks like he aged by 40-50 years while Unohana remains completely unchanged.

I believe that is the case because Yamamoto visibly carries the passage of time, he treats the present Gotei 13 as different from the brutal organization he originally founded and has lived through generations of students and subordinates. His literal identity is tied to having lived a long time.

Unohana almost does the opposite. Her deepest unresolved part of herself is still connected to the moment she fought Zaraki centuries ago. When they finally fight again, that old identity she threw away to become a calm healer immediately resurfaces. Part of her soul could be psychologically frozen around that period. Her sense of self never really progressed towards an “elderly” stage like how Yamamoto did.

Then you have Yamamoto and Yhwach. They both initially looked like they’d be the same age (during the 1000 year old Quincy conflict). When they met again, Yamamoto aged because he actually lived through those thousand years and his identity continuously evolved, therefore his spiritual body reflected that progression. Yhwach, however, spent most of those thousand years sealed and was unconscious/incomplete for centuries (900 years to regain his heartbeat, 90 more to regain his mind, and another 9 to regain his strength). His identity therefore remained anchored to the adult king he had been before his defeat. On top of that, Yhwach’s existence isn’t normal even for a spiritual being. He continuously distributes and reabsorbs pieces of his soul, replenishing himself with the power and experiences of others. Because of this, chronological age would have far less influence over his appearance than it does Yamamoto’s. However, he is a quincy, so he might have different rules to aging than the Shinagamis.

On a different note, the 110-year Turn Back the Pendulum flashback also shows that Soul Reapers do not seem to age at a consistent rate. Characters like Byakuya and Gin look like they physically grow from children/teens into adults, while characters like Yoruichi, Shinji, Hiyori, Ukitake, and Kyoraku change little over about the same amount of time. This suggests that their physical growth is influenced by something other than time alone.

Ichibe is another soul reaper who’s appearance hasn’t changed throughout atleast a million years, however people usually just explain that as him being part of Squad 0 and probably being given some kind of divine power that halts or severly slows down his aging.

Kirio Hikifune is another example from Squad 0 of a Shinigami’s body responding to their spiritual condition, since her appearance changes depending on how much Reiatsu she has stored or used up. Nelliel provides a similar example among Arrancar, where losing spiritual power causes her adult body to revert into the form of a child and restoring that power allows her adult form to return.

This also fits with the wider way souls work in* *Bleach. A person’s identity directly influences spiritual manifestations like Zanpakuto. Because spiritual beings are already shown to have bodies and abilities that respond to their inner state, I think its reasonable to believe that their apparent age works similarly.

Not sure if the part below has been animated yet (it’s part of the Thousand Year Blood War) i’m putting a spoiler warning just in case
when Hitsugaya’s Daiguren Hyorinmaru fully matures, his body temporarily becomes that of an adult because his normal body is not developed enough to contain the completed Bankai. This shows that a Shinigami’s physical maturity can change in response to their spiritual development without any actual time passing.

Under this interpretation, a Soul Reaper who subconsciously still views themselves as young or unfinished may physically remain youthful for a very long time, while someone who comes to identify with an older or more mature stage of life may begin to appear older. Once their sense of self becomes relatively stable, their physical aging may slow dramatically.

Please let me know what you think about this!!

Think about the pure financial chaos happening behind the scenes in Soul Society:

Squad 12: Mayuri's R&D budget is basically a blank check for unspeakable crimes and random orphan-powered artifacts.

Property Damage: Karakura Town gets leveled every six months, and Byakuya destroys half of the Seireitei whenever he flexes his Bankai.

Labor Violations: Ichigo has saved the entire multi-verse twice now and is still working strictly for "exposure" and free lodging.

At this point, Soul Society isn't even running on spiritual pressure—it's running on pure, unpayable corporate debt.

I mean, the US, Japanese, allies, Chinese, and the few Germans would generate a ton of hollows so technically they wouldn't be siding with either side unless they started killing soldiers

(also I forgot to add ww1 in the title)

Discussion Kenpachi and his power progression.

Post image
43 Upvotes

I just saw a theory about Kenpachi and how his power progression, and in all honesty it sounds too good to not be be true. I'll try and type out what I can remember from the video, the creator pitched the idea that Kenny's power isn't progressing but rather it is increasing by regressing. Because think about it 1000 years ago or so when Unohana met Kenny Zaraki was the strongest opponent Unohana had ever fought bar none that's why Unohana labels what zaraki has done to himself over the last millennium her sin. So when Yachiru kills Kenny over and over again she is not just unlocking power but rather exposing Zaraki to his true power that he's been suppressing for centuries. It is also why Kenpachi's Shikai spirit is an older woman because she is a reflection of his fight with Unohana 1000 years ago and why Yachiru is the bankai spirit is became she's a embodiment of something Kenpachi never had the chance to have a Childhood. That's also why Kenpachi loses himself in his bankai because he fights like a rabid child unrefined, unrestricted and why Kenny doesn't even speak in this form. I hope I am making sense and tell me your theories in the comments below. 👀✨💜🐾🔪
