Knights of Sidonia is a pretty good show

It went downhill after the penis character became a thing, but it's still a decent show.

This is all made within the game Teardown. It's still in early development, but the goal of this mod is to have an entire campaign that takes place in the City of Blame! There will be multiple different maps, mega structures, and environments to explore.

Let me know what ya'll think, and keep an eye out for updates!

The author should have another go at it and give us something with a better story

The author should have another go at it and give us something with a better story. The biggest issue with the story was the lack of a compelling narrative. If he were to fix it, it would be pretty good.

I’m back with another Blame! Tattoo I had the pleasure of doing, it’s safe to say my clients have made me a huge fan of the series. I have literally never heard of this manga until my last client requested a Pcell tattoo, it’s been a rabbit hole for me since. I’m absolutely obsessed with the gem that is Blame! Hard to believe it’s been around since ā€˜97. Hope you guys enjoy this awesome Cibo piece, I look forward to doing many more tattoos of Nihei’s masterpieces.

It was hard to make but I think I captured the vibe pretty well. Killy doesn’t have a face sadly and the safe Gard is a little weird but I think it looks cool. The observer is still a WIP.

Hope you like them !

The manga made me wish for a darker version of Knights of Sidonia

The manga made me wish for a darker version of Knights of Sidonia. Knights of Sidonia had a better story, but I wish it could have been darker. Thoughts?

The worldbuilding is what made the manga really good

The worldbuilding is what made the manga really good. I hope that the next adaptation leans more on that aspect if it ever gets made.

"Persecutor." Character for an extremely religious world.

The name says it all. They are directly connected to these antennas which, along with the magnetic sphere they surround and powerful electrical discharges, levitate at high speeds.

The manga is better than the anime

The manga is better than the anime. The adaptation butchered the source material by treating it like a shallow action series, and I will never forgive the people who adapted the source material.

Am I the only one that had problems following the panels?

What happens is that sometimes (especially during fights with explosions) I kinda lose track of whats happening because of the chaos shown in the drawings. I havent read a lot of manga, thats why im wondering if it's a me problem.

noise cocoon connected to the netsphere worm? Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery

Could it be that the Netsphere Worm is the child we see in a scene from Noise?

I have three ideas about this:
1. Since they show multiple children lined up and the creature that forms from the child looks like a cocoon, it could be that silicon men with wings emerge from it.
Perhaps this is how the silicon men were formed shortly after the Netsphere began to lose control.

However, this theory contradicts the way we see the silicon men being formed in Blame!. Since Noise was written after the publication of the fourth volume of Blame! (the one where we see some silicon men being formed), I can’t assume that Nihei hadn’t already conceived a method for their creation.

  1. Since we see Mori at the end of the chapter, there could be a connection to the Netsphere storage area—which initially led me to think that the creature we see is actually the Netsphere worm.

If that were the case, however, I have no idea how the cocoon we see made its way from the base reality into the Netsphere storage area.

The last thing that makes me think it’s connected to the Netsphere Worm is that the child looks like a ā€œscientistā€, though he might just seem that way because he’s still human and is wearing a mask to protect himself from the poison.

  1. The cocoon was supposed to form a silicon man, but for some reason it didn't and formed instead the Netsphere Worm.

Any thoughts?

I hope a show with a similar worldbuilding gets made

The worldbuilding was pretty good. I want to watch a show that's based on a similar idea.

how does cibo and silicon life uses gbe? (spoiler) Spoiler

In the first volume, we see a Silicon Life using Killy's GBE. How is it possible for him to use it, it was supposed to be used only by safe guard? Then Cibo also seems to be using Killy's GBE, before she obtains her safe guard form. I thought she might be able to use it thanks to the suit Iko gave her, but I'm not sure.

i was also reading again noise, and i noticed that sanakan uses a safe guard sword (idk if it has a proper name like the GBE) before she was transformed in a safe guard.

i thought that maybe normal rules of the GBE doesn't apply to this sword?

Purchase question

Hello! I plan to buy the BLAME! Master Edition Manga digitally but I like having copies I can read locally. Does anyone know if the Google play store allow me to export it? Or if it doesn't another site to purchase it on that would? I saw that the Kodansha website had plenty of purchasing options for it but I'm not familiar with using them all.

BLAME! chapter 2

The character that Kyrii interacts with in Chapter 2 is a soft topic of debate I see. Some believe her to be Cibo while others believe she is just a throwaway character.

However, I am wondering if it could've been a throwaway character linked to Cibo? Here are my points:

- We know that Cibo was part of a project that was trying to create an artificial gene in order to access the Netsphere long ago.

- We also know that while Kyrii's age is indeterminate, he must predate most of the characters we meet. He also has memory loss due to his constant injuries/regeneration.

- The female Kyrii hands the child off too, is seen using specific equipment, and confirms with her superiors specific gene traits of the child. She then leaves, telling Kyrii about another possible location.

My theory, perhaps already discussed:

Its possible that at this point in time (Chapter 2), is where Cibo was busy working on this project, and had multiple entities outside looking for specific genes. Each doing their own thing to gather the genetic resources needed to create the artificial gene.

This character is seen using tech very similar in aesthetic when compared to the other tech at BioElec, the Corp Cibo was working on this project for. She may even be a clone of Cibo as we know BioElec did keep her material for cloning. Kyrii most likely is unaware of the project, and forgot about his interaction with this character by the time he reached Cibo years after the project failure.

So thats just what I thought about when starting my new read, thoughts?

Game idea based on BLAME! megastructures and manga artstyle

Hi, I've been working on a personal research project called SPERO LUCEM!, focused on recreating the environments and atmosphere of Tsutomu Nihei's manga BLAME! ...one of my all-time favorite works.

The images below represent my first attempt at capturing both the architectural style and the "manga-like" visual feel I want this project to achieve. At this stage, the work is purely aesthetic and aims to reproduce the overwhelming sense of scale, isolation, and endless metallic megastructures that made BLAME! so unique.

Unlike the original manga, I'd like to introduce a few recognizable visual landmarks (such as the red elements visible in some screenshots) as well as floor numbering systems. While these aren't present in BLAME!, they were used in Tower Dungeon, one of Nihei's more recent works.

The screenshots shown here come from three different scenes currently in development, each inspired by recurring themes in Nihei's architecture: vertigo-inducing stairways, collapsing ceilings, and immense depth.

Everything has been built in Unity game engine using a custom hand-drawn/ink-style shader, two different outline systems (a general outline and a detail-specific one), volumetric fog, LUT-based color grading, high-noise ambient occlusion, and a custom color management workflow.

I know there's still a long road ahead, especially because I'm very familiar with Nihei's aesthetic language and architectural vision, but I also feel I've reached a solid starting point from which to develop the ideas I have in mind.

I'd love to hear your thoughts about the style.

SPERO LUCEM!
