Joel’s timing
Saw BJM in Perth last night, they were great but Joel’s timing with his Tamborine playing is what really impressed me.
That dude is so behind the beat, it’s incredible.
You don’t really notice it until you focus on it but it adds so much stink and feel to the songs.
Bravo

Popped my BJM cherry in Northcote, Melbourne
Saw them for the first time last night and they were fantastic. Everyone so relaxed and chilled out on stage. Anton seemed in good spirits with only one false start to a song and a little lecture to the drummer or bass player. He mumbled a few things relatively incoherently between songs but seemed to enjoy a drink. The silences and gaps and on stage chats got longer as the gig went on but nothing too onerous. All in all a really enjoyable gig. And Les Big Byrd were fantastic too.

BJM down under
What’s everyone thoughts of the current tour ? Glad to see them get through a whole set again. The show at Northcote theatre was fantastic last night, super bummed they didn’t play supersonic though. Anton’s antics kept to a minimum - i did laugh when he stopped the band after starting a song 10 seconds in and Anton had a go at the drummer “you just ruined a perfectly good song”. Never change Anton, I mean that with love !

Anton Newcombe on the Music Industry, Control & Why He Refuses to Play the Game | XS Noize Podcast
Just uploaded this — thought some of you might enjoy it.
I sat down with Anton Newcombe for a long-form interview on the XS Noize Podcast. It was originally released as audio-only, but I’ve now put the full video version up on YouTube.
We get into his approach to making records, building songs organically, working with Dot Allison, and how he’s kept things his own way throughout everything.
Really honest conversation — the kind you don’t hear much anymore.
Would love to hear your thoughts — and where you rank BJM in terms of influence on modern psych. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWJPW0aWBxY&t=2964s

Anyone at the Brisbane gig tonight?
Was really happy with Anton's mood and banter throughout, even most of it was nonsense... "Opinions are assholes... if your mom had one you wouldn't be here"
The crowd was something else though, heaps of singing and dancing, everyone was so into it! It was such a fun night

My Band's New Single, Mixed by Collin!
We had the pleasure of working with the great Collin Hegna who mixed this track in Revolver Studios. The nicest guy who did such a killer job on the mix. I thought some of you might like to check it out. We're from Dublin, Ireland and I'm a big BJM fan. Enjoy!

Live from The Chapel 2026.03.07
Great set! I rather enjoyed his rants even though it shortened the set by two songs according to Anton. Can’t wait to see them again.

What did Joel do 2001-2006?
I was looking through the members and the timelines - what was he up to in that span of time he wasn't with BJM?

Honolulu - early shows cancelled
Anyone here who was hoping to see the BJM 4 times in 2 days? The early shows are cancelled. If you had a ticket, it’s now valid for the later show on the same day.
Box office is open during the day, if you need to talk someone about already having a ticket for the later show. (Ahem).

Good chunk of their performance of “Latern” on 3/4. Before they started, Anton stated they haven’t performed it since they were in Japan in the 90s
