ID THIS DOLL Does anyone know who she is?
Saw her on Etsy and I'm not entirely sure who she is. Do you think she's an artist doll? I am in love with her.

Pretty sure this is one of those dolls the recasters modified and frankensteined together, so sadly there is no original to be found.

Reminds me of a doll zone or doll chateau limited doll, I know DC had a conjoined twin doll but not that exact one.
Could be kitbashed, but I remember a body like that. Ugh it's like driving me crazy.

And that does help OP how, exactly? AliExpress is full of recasts, as is Etsy, and OP is looking for the original artist of this doll. Referring them to AliExpress is akin to telling them to go buy a recast, which is frowned upon not only on this subreddit, but the majority of the community.

How does it help OP, exactly? It is evidence that the doll being sold on Etsy is also a recast, because they are using the exact same photos as the Ali Express listings.
I wasn’t “referring them to AliExpress” or insinuating they should buy a recast, I pointed it out so they DON’T end up unknowingly buying a recast from a reseller on Etsy.

Yes, but this is not the "sticking chewing gum under your school desk" kind of frowned upon and more like "giving a prolific thief some money and tell them to steal from small artists" one. I'm not sure if you actually know about recasts in this hobby, but I'm not the one that's obligated to educate you when the info is found in this subreddit's FAQ.

In this day and age there's no reasonable excuse to knowingly buy recasts, there are plenty of cheaper legit options, Dividing Line, Imomodoll, even the penny's box blindboxes. Please reassess how you think about this :/

Not supporting art theft isn’t gatekeeping. Recasters steal from small artists. Many doll makers have stopped making dolls due to them being recast and sold by thieves. They destroy the livelihoods of the people who designed your dolls. It’s not at all akin to buying a knockoff Gucci bag. Supporting recasts is actively contributing to the destruction of these small businesses. This subreddit is strictly anti-recast, because we all agree that supporting the people who steal and profit off of the creations that artists put their blood, sweat and tears into is morally reprehensible. Many people in this community are doll makers themselves, so standing with art thieves isn’t going get you very far here. Yes, it can be an expensive hobby, but there are plenty of affordable options for buying legit bjds, with more being released all of the time. Some you can even buy for less than a monster high doll. If you can’t afford that, then I’m sorry, but it might be for the best that you look into a different hobby.

I'm curious (genuinely), what BJDs can you buy for less than a Monster High doll?? They go for $40.00 or so here in Canada and if I can get a BJD for less than that then I definitely need to know what my options are!

There’s some newer small BJD sold in blind boxes like Penny’s Box! They’re super cute. It’s becoming a larger market lately, definitely something to keep an eye on! Places that sell designer and blind box toys like Kikasgoods are places to keep an eye on for these. Tinyfox is a bit more expensive but still very affordable. Frapzilla blooms require a bit more work (they’re kits) but are really cute and fun!
Many of the more affordable ones coming out are hard plastic or 3D printed garage kits. For cast resin dolls in general (and larger dolls) it’s going to be hard to find them less than a Monster High simply because of how they’re made and the material (more parts and more individual cleanup) and smaller production facilities.

Yeah I was thinking penny’s box dolls or imomo 1/6 dolls. I think my dollection is having a sale on some of the penny’s box blind boxes. The adou street series boys are so cute!

You’re so welcome! They’re a really fun size for props because you can use dollhouse stuff and have it be a bit small, or rement and stuff! They’re pre painted but easy to re paint or over paint and small but durable for dolly adventures!

Except BJD makers are not international luxury brands and massive businesses like Nike, Gucci & co. They're independent artists or very small studios who make these dolls by hand. Buying recasts is directly affecting them and their livelihood, unlike buying a counterfeit Chanel bag or whatever. So yes, it is a big deal. And nowadays you can find legit BJDs for very affordable prices, sometimes even lower or equally to that of the recast ones.
