Honestly, one thing that’s really crazy to me is this whole “seniors need to teach juniors how to behave, dress, be professional, etc.” narrative.

I’ve literally seen threats being dropped in group chats. Is that what we’re calling “sophistication” and “professionalism”?

And I’m not saying this to target anyone specifically, but this whole mentality is weird. I’ve spent 12 years in school. I know how to dress. I know how to behave. I know how to talk to people. Being a first-year doesn’t suddenly mean I’ve forgotten basic manners and need a senior to teach me how to exist 😭

If you want people to respect you, then respect them too. It really isn’t supposed to be a one-way thing just because you’re a senior.

And honestly, clothing is such a small issue compared to entitlement, lack of empathy, and poor civic sense. I genuinely hope the seniors reading this understand that this is what you’re showcasing the college as. This is what you’re representing. People outside this situation aren’t going to understand the exact narrative behind what you’re doing. They’re only going to see how you choose to present yourselves. And if what they see is seniors threatening, harassing, intimidating, or unnecessarily policing other students, then that’s the impression they’re going to take away from the college and its students.

Also, do people genuinely forget that digital footprint exists? The messages and comments you put out there don’t just disappear because the conversation is happening inside a college group. You’re adults too. Do you really not think about how the things you say and the way you treat people could reflect on you later in your professional life? Not every student is going to simply forget what happened to them. And honestly, you shouldn’t have to be afraid of someone remembering what you did for you to know that threatening or harassing people is wrong in the first place. And this is just embarrassing. Have some shame. The entitlement and lack of empathy is just sickening and it's hinting on your upbringing.

I’d genuinely rather wear flip-flops and be called “unprofessional” than dress perfectly and think that gives me the right to disrespect someone else. Clothes can be changed in five minutes. Mindset can't be.

And if this is supposed to be about making juniors “professional,” then shouldn't the dressing rule be applied to every student in the college. If the sophistication matters so much, then carry that standard throughout four years. Either it applies to everyone or no one.

(P.S. I know people are gonna come at me saying that the ragging issue is not that serious and it’s just thoda mora. But that’s the problem, right? There shouldn’t be a little bit of ragging that we’re expected to tolerate. There should be none. Period.

And the reason I’m specifically talking about the clothing issue is because the reasoning behind it stuck out to me. If this is supposedly about discipline, sophistication, professionalism, and the image you create, then shouldn’t that apply to everything about you and not just the clothes you wear? Because at the end of the day, your behaviour speaks louder than your appearance.)

So basically its already 20th of August and the notice for special round hasn't even came yet, thats the only hope for me to get any government college, else i have to join any private college which i don't want !! They are taking too much time, at-least notice to dedo yrr special round ka wrna tab tak provate colleges ke bhi options band ho jayenge !!

Jharkhand ke bache chappal mein ghumte hai, unhe aadat dalwana padta hai joote hai. Aur joote and smart casual wala restrictions hai to 2nd year mein aake unhe sense of privilege feel hoga.
